    Actually, back in the day I was taught to spell 1-9 and use numerals for 10 and above, but that seems to have changed.

    Spell zero to twelve, numerals 13+.

    Always spell the number if it starts a sentence.
    e.g.
    Six people were walking the track yesterday.
