Life is all about perspective. Two lads on the wharf on the other side of this picture were rolling around laughing at this. All the Crew and Officers on Perth looked far more serious. The Captain may have spent the rest of his career safely on a shore base
Chatting with a mate about this yesterday. We had been Northern Hemisphere each winter for a few years. Hobart even in Spring in Summer uniform with Snow on Mt Wellington had some knocking knees as we sailed up to Hobart
I (and others) were standing on the forecastle of Stalwart when she went flying past ( without tugs IIRC). Mmmm, goin' a bit quick me thinks
