I read that Harrods apparently have a secret Vodka stash which can be accessed if one is in the know. So much for "we are all in this togetherness"

    Probably Champers as well.

    I
The Qatar Investment Authority acquired Harrods, which operates its historic store in Knightsbridge, an outlet in Westfield London, a store in Heathrow's Terminal 5 and along with newly opened H Beauty concepts in Milton Keynes and Lakeside, Esssex, for £1.5bn in 2010 from Mohamed Al Fayed.18 Oct 2021

t doesn't surprise me as the current owner is of ME origin.

Re: " so they have **** for brains" .

Funnily enough I experienced a bit of that this a.m.. SA State Election today & an odd thing happened at the polling booth during my attendance.

So possible would be miscreants couldn't rob your gaff while you were at the polling station while verbally giving your name, & confirming your address to the person sticking a line through you name on the roll, a Printed hard copy was initiated that would be scanned by said person without any conversation, & alerting said possible nearby miscreant's accomplices to the fact you weren't home, supposedly. They were able to mobile phone an accomplice who could quickly visit your nearby address & rob the joint. At least that was the theory. So this card idea seemed to be worth it's weight in Koala crap.

Today I fronted up wearing a mask as was the bloke behind the desk & four times he said summat, but I couldn't understand what, with a bit of background noise as well.

( as it turned out, so I was later told, he was asking whether I wanted my ID Card back & that too should have been a matter that didn't require a reply, just hand it back regardless & let me decide & dispose of it FFS.

He eventually started raising his voice so I could understand as people do ( Someone doesn't speak English, just yell louder.). Yep my name & address included.
When I tried to explain about the Barcode & other small details which had all my info on it to safely transfer to his laptop without telling everyone in creation my whereabouts which the Electoral Commission had instigated for this very secure reason, his Supervisor ( a seemingly Public Servant type) intervened & muttered summat through her mask which was also unintelligible. (Probably,"Don't upset our staff & make them cry?").

All he needed to do was use the info on the card that the SAEC had sent me for this very reason without a word being spoken.
Just "Thanks mate, have a nice day" would have sufficed.

As I said, that was the theory. Bloody elections, & we will have another in a few weeks time it seems & I bet the same pair of Dorks is sat there.

They used to employ part time Teachers on an earner for the day but they in turn were less than useless which was part of the reason this Confidential Card thingo was introduced.

Am I being unreasonable, or do these people also have crap for brains? ME? I reckon they do but then I am a bit biased.

EDIT. indoors just informed me the bloke was an Indian (no not Hiawatha, the other sort, y' know the Ghandi & rice sort)
So no idea what he was verbally imparting AND from behind a mask ffs! Which S A E C moron thought that would be a sensible idea???

Have just applied for a Postal Vote in future for self & indoors. Job done.

    Talk about OTFT.

If only Basil Fawlty had spotted that before making the Fawlty Towers series or as one of their productions listed as "Farty Towels" on the signboard.

Every episode had a different F-T on that sign, some likely to invite attention from the Mods, if repeated here.

Hope the blood pressure did not go up to much. Cool trivia or Grumpy buggers threat is trivia all by it self Des. Noting the election outcome was a bit of a land slide which might be C.A. fodder
    OMG
A mate who has a very strong Scottish accent got racially abused at a Geelong concert on the weekend. She is a Nurse and lived here for 40+ years. Must admit I have to listen carefully to some Poms as well now

I have hung around/worked with, Brits most of my School/ teen & adult life & can normally understand the language innit. Indeed I married one, but thank god she never spoke with an "aye uuup" accent.
But add a facemask into the mix???????

It does make it difficult especially when one is endeavoring to keep one's personal details schtum as the system was supposed to do.

I just despair at the decisions made by people who should know better/think, especially where personal security & privacy matter. It's like they never read the the handout they must have got from the EC re this system.

BP fine now thanks James. Hang on, she is calling, & BUGGER, now it is up again,

    Cest la vie.

The Federal Electors invited me back for the forthecoming... but back-pedalled like crazy when I told them I was not "FULLY jabbbbed".

Seems THAT is now the most important criteria for p/t employment these days, not Common Sense... and may go a way to explaining the fun time you had with that .... gentleman.

Edit:- Off topic a tad... Wife had her purse etc stolen in a supermarket, all on security vid. Excellent quality, except villain was MASKED.... Took cops an extra five days to associate him up with the other villain....
