Drop bears are not just an Australian thing!

Watch: Florida iguanas are 'cold stunned' and falling from trees

A rare cold snap across Florida has left thousands of iguanas 'cold stunned' and immobile, with some falling from trees. The state's wildlife agency says they're ripe for capturing.
Reptiles like iguanas are ectotherms, meaning their internal body temperature is affected by the weather outside. When it gets too cold – temperatures in Florida have dropped to below 50F (10C) – their internal process slow down, leading to the phenomenon known as 'cold stunning.'
Florida's wildlife agency has asked the public to capture these iguanas, who are an invasive species not native to the state, while they're immobile. They report that more than 2,000 cold stunned iguanas have been handed over to authorities so far.

Confirmation bias not needed- I am at least 3 per day and Good stuff !

Why Your Third Cup is a "Longevity Tool"

Beyond the telomeres (which are essentially the protective caps on our DNA), here is why that third cup is working for you:

    • Antioxidant Powerhouse: For many people in Western diets, coffee is actually the primary source of antioxidants, even beating out fruits and vegetables. It's packed with polyphenols like chlorogenic acid.
    • Liver Health: There is remarkably strong evidence that moderate coffee consumption significantly reduces the risk of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer.
    • Cognitive Defense: Regular intake is consistently linked to a lower risk of neurodegenerative issues, specifically Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
    • The "Blue Zones" Factor: As Dan Buettner notes, coffee isn't just about the chemistry; it’s often a social ritual. In places like Ikaria or Sardinia, that cup of coffee is usually enjoyed with friends, adding a layer of social connection that is a pillar of longevity.

    The "To a Point" Caveat

You mentioned you feel good "to a point," and the research backs your intuition there, too. The benefits tend to plateau or even reverse if:

    1. Sleep is disrupted: If that fourth cup interferes with your sleep cycle, the loss of restorative rest usually outweighs the antioxidant benefits.
    2. Additives: The longevity data usually applies to black coffee or coffee with a splash of milk—once it becomes a "dessert in a cup" with heavy syrups, the metabolic cost changes.

Don't worry about it guys, I worked with a guy who loved coffee, we had a percolator in the office that went all day, I'd have a coffee whenever he did and would go home with a caffeine headache. To disprove the theory he died from a heart attack while cycling which he did nearly every day.

    Sunshine

BBC- "The sun has finally broken through the clouds in Aberdeen - for the first time in 21 days.

Sunshine was last recorded in the city three weeks ago, on 21 January. This is the longest sunless period in the area since Met Office records began in 1957.

Residents of the Granite City finally glimpsed the sun late on Thursday afternoon.

And the Met Office confirmed that 30 minutes of sunshine was officially recorded in the Dyce area in the hour up to 16:00.

Meanwhile, however, there is a yellow warning for snow and ice across Scotland overnight."

    Blood Moon

    What is a blood moon?

Total lunar eclipses happens every 18 months to three years, when Earth aligns perfectly between the moon and sun, blocking the sun’s light and casting a shadow onto the moon. A blood moon occurs when the moon appears red during an eclipse.

The partial eclipse, where the Earth’s shadow begins to cross the Moon, will start at 8.50pm in Sydney and Melbourne. This will be 7.50pm in Brisbane, and 8.20pm in Adelaide.
The blood moon, or total eclipse, will start a little more than an hour later. It’s estimated to begin at 10.04pm in Sydney and Melbourne, 9.04pm in Brisbane and 9.34pm in Adelaide. Perth will see the total eclipse from 7.04pm.
