Why Facts Don’t Change Our Minds. "Myside Bias"

A very smart lady OS who is also a part of a Government overseas has a very clear bias and seems to ignore science which always surprises me. A lot like anti vaxers or flat earth true believers or my self perhaps.

I really enjoyed reading "Why Facts Don’t Change Our Minds New discoveries about the human mind show the limitations of reason. By Elizabeth Kolbert February 19, 2017"

Thought you might to. I might be wrong of course

Some people, including anti-vaxers, think their opinions and prejudices are more reliable than actual facts. For example, if you tell an anti-vaxer that its more dangerous to get the flu than it is to get vaccinated, they just refuse to listen.
There were a number of other examples during the election campaign, but I can't mention them here.

Hugh MacKay's book - Why Don't People Listen? talks about this as well.

I have a friend who is pretty intelligent but was always posting all of this conspiracy theory stuff on FB. I asked her why she thought that these little 2bit unkown websites were more credible in getting the truth out there than mass media all over the world. She never really posted any conspiracy theory stuff after that.
    Cheers
