The National Security Hotline has been around for quite a few years - my housemate worked there a few years back. He was an analyst - the call centre operator takes the information and then passes it to the analysts who work to determine if the issue needs follow up or not.

The calls are mainly from rednecks reporting their next door neighbours who might wear dresses or towels - occasionally there are items of concern.

In the small town I used to live in the residents would have been calling the hotline about neighbours wearing towels on their heads.......... Muslims were called 'towel heads'.

That was during one of the Gulf wars when we were looking for the weapons of mass destruction.
