RIP Bucko - Riding on Forever
I guess posting about weapons all the time that most of his videos get demonetised pretty quick. It’s a bit of a hard one - on one hand you need the creators to keep making content so people keep watching but on the other, YouTube is a money making business for themselves, not the creators - they only want to give enough money to creators to keep them posting content and maximise profits - same as how all big business works, so not overly surprising really. Although he says he doesn’t know the rules, they are actually pretty well known and anyone in the partner program who has a half decent channel now gets a self assessment to do whenever they upload - this is very new - this breaks down all of the rules into yes, you’ll get ad revenue, no you won’t get ad revenue and in between is you’ll get some ad revenue.
Dave from EEVBlog explains it here - as you can see, there’s quite a bit about what is and isn’t acceptable so this guy knows what’s happening, he just doesn’t like it which I get completely.
In this guy’s case, almost anything related to firearms, etc is considered a no no - sucks for him but they are the guidelines set down and he will know this so that is why he won’t make much off ad revenue.
I’m not at all against him and his fellow content creators trying to band together to get themselves a better deal, but I think they will be belting their heads against a brick wall. There’s nearly 100,000 channels now that have more that 100,000 subscribers and that’s growing almost exponentially so a couple of disgruntled creators probably won’t worry Youtube at all to be honest.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.
I just checked my youtube analytics , had 2.8k views in for 3.4k minutes in the last 28 days and earned $0.0 . maybe because I don't have ads .
Most popular video has 45,000 views but if it had ads no one would bother to watch it.
This might be of interest.
