Muckadilla Pub burns down . [bigsad]
Muckadilla pub in Queensland outback gutted by fire in matter of minutes
See the thread "Another sad day".
Very sad to hear. I've never been there, but I know that country towns/settlements really do value their "local",..a place to "have a yarn" etc.
Pickles.
yep, was way to dear for the returns IMHO.
i first looked into it when the lot before this bought it and i couldn't for the life gf me see how you could survive on what it was bringing in
i went out there and quietly sussed it out when they sold to this owner and the sums were better but still not flash...
very sad to see it go....
the motel rooms were straight out of a 60's hitchcock movie...
A mate and I propped there for lunch on the way to Winton. We were there for 2 hours and no other customers came in. The young barman was watching the mid-day soaps. Unless they had some peak hours then you wouldn't feed a flea on the place. At Ilfracombe same trip we walked in and the bar was empty. The barmaid was sitting in a chair on the veranda feeding her baby. Again no one else came in during the time we spent there. How some of those bush pubs survive is beyond me.
