    Hello from Brisbane.

I can go one small step further than the memory of getting biscuits decanted from those large metal tins.

If you actually bought your biscuits by the tin, as a lot of farmers did in the day along with other bulk rations, there was something like a two shilling (there’s my age showing) deposit paid on the tin. Come birthday time you might crack it lucky and get given the tin to return to the grocer. That was about the cost of a Matchbox toy then.

    Plus the biscuits were good.

    Who’s a lucky boy.......

    Cheers,

    Neil

    You were. Two bob! Cripes.

Here, Arnotts took over Menz Biscuits opposite the Fire Brigade HQ & when the factory had a fire they didn't have to come far.

    William Menz - Wikipedia

I worked in my early days opposite the factory as a Trainee Sign writer & the 'bouquet' of the Yo-Yo Biscuit ovens were something to behold.
The sign writer's premises was a well known Adelaide landmark as out the font hanging off the parapet was a 'bloke' on a Painter's plank scaffold hanging on ropes. It was surprising how many people would stop & try to have a conversation with the 'bloke' it being a clothed Plaster dummy complete with white overalls, waistcoat, felt hat, shoes. My crowd used to buy a large tin of Yo-Yos for staff morning tea every couple of weeks when Menz had a small retail outlet attached to the factory.

No 58i, it wasn't modeled on me either before you say anything.

    Ah happy days......

Today’s work sees the D4 getting some attention.

Commenced a 2 job task, Snorkel fitting and Prospeed Roof mounted lightbar bracket.

2 holes at the top for the Prospeed need enlarging and Nutserts.
Lower bracket is for the Snorkel. Drilling that A pillar is entertaining.

Slotted ready to slide over snorkel bracket

    Clearances for the Prospeed mounts.

    All fitted....

And now I just need to wait for the Bar to arrive.

[QUOTE=Toxic_Avenger;2938130]Nice oil burner. How do they actually work? just fill the cup then light?

Pretty much. Gravity fed to the pot. The trick is around flow-rate and air induction.

I remember reading about a group of tradies on a big construction site, I think in Sydney, years ago who went on strike because the company tried to save money by cancelling their morning tea supply of Iced Vovos. What did you do in your Man Cave / Femme Den today?

I have put the last touches on the smoker.
Now painted in pot belly black paint.
The timber is all Ironbark, and has come up better than expected. Bench folds down for storage.

Also cooked up a batch of beef ribs and a brisket flat.

I finally (semi) finished my side doors.

The little drill that could .. half a D2 wheel nut cover mod notwithstanding! .. got me over the line.
Figuring out the hinge designs was the arduous bit(s).
