My mechanic mate swears by it.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.

Might be a bit out of spec depending on which motor, especially in Melbourne.

It, (Gulf Western) seems to be "a good thing" in another forum I frequent.
But I'm a bit "anal" about my TD5 (coz it's awesome and purrs like a kitten) which has full service history (using Penrite, alledegly) up to 330000 KMs. (It's now on 337000)
So perhaps I'm just being finicky....

    Perhaps I'm overthinking it....I think ....

    Thanks peeps.

Careful using a wrong oil in a TD5
Like any PD engine they will have cam issues on the injector drive if you use the wrong oil

    Hi Slunnie
You're referring to the 'cold' spec yes?
    15w?
Should be lower you think? Given age of TD5?

Yes, absolutely. I think the Td5 is a pretty modern engine, its not like the older style motors that would run a thicker oil, I think that even with 330,000km's you'd still be running the same spec oil.

    This graph is from RAVE.

I run Mobil 1 5-50, which is not a recommendation, but just a viscosity that fits well for where I live that gets both freezing and hot. I think the dealer when new used Mobil 1 0-30 or 0-40, I cant recall which one. You will see that 15-40 isn't even on the graph.

    Cheers
