Interesting read that. The vanners (terrorists) are divided on the matter of taking water from unattended taps. Some say stealing. Some say it is OK. Just goes further to confirming my long held opinion that grey nomads are tightwads. As used to be said on the Gold Coast about Victorians and Kiwis. They arrive with a spare pair of undies and a $10 note and don't change either.

I planned for my retirement and am not sure it was a good idea - been retired for 11 years and not got one $ from the government. Only get about the same as the pension but none of the benefits and have to pay tax (probably now paying your pension) because I planned ahead.

I should have ****ed it all against the wall and got the pension and overall would be in about the same economic position.

But it is good being retired - you can be as stingy as you want as it fits the stereotype. Did I also mention being grumpy and cranky - got the T shirts to prove it.

It is true. This is an extraordinarily generous country. Check the Centrelink site for the income and assets test for a pension. Couples can have their principal residence and near $1,000,000 in assets and still get a part pension with fringe benefits.
