More money can be saved at 0kph, that's 0mph if you've been too stingy to buy a car since 1970. [biggrin]
We should all remember that,, if we are lucky,, we might ALL make it to Grey Nomad status....
oh,, and my grey nomad nightmare is being passed by stupid idiot car drivers....
"MUST MUST MUST travel 1000 kays for a long weekend and then travel 1000Kays back for Monday start" ,,
idiots..
I recently went through the rigmarole of applying for a pension.
Was knocked back.
Apparently too much money.
So I'll reduce it this financial year, then reapply.
Apparently its my super thats holding me back( $574 a fortnight).:soapbox:
I'm currently putting $40g renovating the kitchen and windows in my new to me house,I'll have to spend a little more to get under the 250 threshold.
I'm surprised that much super income would stop you from getting a pension as I have a similar super income. Have you had a financial planner look at it?
If you were knocked back on income you can ask for a review based on assets. They are supposed to approve which ever assessment gives the best results for you - I spent 2 hours on the phone to Centrelink yesterday (half on hold) discussing this with a very nice bloke.
But every situation is different.
I thought of another money saving idea. Many caravan parks have little book loan collections in their camp kitchens. The idea is you start reading a book on the one night a week you can afford to stay in the park, finish it while in free roadside rest stops and donate it to the library at the next caravan park where you stay. So you can read your way around the country for free. Excellent!
Ahem!!!
