stop worrying and enjoy life....
I'm now officially a retired senior citizen grumpy old fart since Centrelink finally agreed to start slinging me a few bucks of old aged pension from next Monday, so I've been thinking I need to curb my spending habits and become more stingy.
Our youngest offspring reckons I'm already stingy, but what would he know? He hasn't seen nuthing yet!
So I've come up with a few ideas, but I welcome other suggestions from fellow grumpy old farts on the forum.
My ideas include:
Only driving at 80 to save fuel
Dog kibble is very nutritious, according to my veterinarian brother in law
Recycle tea bags
No more buying books or magazines - join the library!
Piggyback off the son's Netflix and the daughter's internet accounts
Friday night lamb shanks $10 specials at the Bowlo
Shop for clothes in Vinnies
Cask wine
Visit the children for months at a time and sponge off them - requires regular groveling flattering of our two lovely daughters in law, but that's okay
Drink the son's beer
No more brand names in the supermarket - it's generic only from now on
Seek Seniors discounts literally everywhere
Free roadside rest stops rather than caravan parks
Fuel from Puma to get the 4 cents a litre RACQ discount
Stay on the right side of The Navigator so she keeps feeding me - married men live longer than single men because they eat better.
More solar panels - gotta love free electricity!
Tell the chooks to lay eggs or become chicken dinner
Weekly showers to save water
Anyone have other ideas to contribute? We could all benefit from sharing our wisdom.

Pinch the toilet paper from the roadside rest areas. Get free water from information booths and servos.

Roadside rest stops and other free camp areas are a great idea during the "Off Season" because you can often get the place pretty much to yourself at that time of the year But when it is busy steer clear of them unless you like being surrounded by noisy neighbours.
When I am towing I usually sit on 85-90, Not only to save fuel it is also easier on the trailer/van/4WD and it is also safer.
I have Never liked wine so I save money on that But the sons still drink my beer and piggyback my Netflix account.
Seniors discounts are fantastic so why not take advantage of them.
As for "Black Snaking it" for a few days to save water, I would love to but the missus won't have a bar of that idea.
Never skimp on food or buy inferior brands that you don't really enjoy because when you get older the food bill isn't that big anyway.
As has been mentioned before, Don't overthink it because this is the holiday that you have worked your entire life for So Enjoy It

I'm told Vinnies don't have much stuff for blokes, it's mainly female.
Apparently Red Cross op shops are better for men because they get deceased estates. I might be able to stock up on recycled boxers!
Yeah why didn't you plan for your retirement so that my tax dollars dont have to pay for your pension.
I planned for my retirement and am not sure it was a good idea - been retired for 11 years and not got one $ from the government. Only get about the same as the pension but none of the benefits and have to pay tax (probably now paying your pension) because I planned ahead.
I should have ****ed it all against the wall and got the pension and overall would be in about the same economic position.
But it is good being retired - you can be as stingy as you want as it fits the stereotype. Did I also mention being grumpy and cranky - got the T shirts to prove it.
