Even Subaru have a combination Black & Beige internal colour interior like they couldn't make up their minds. Talk about a foot in each camp.
Actually John, the day we did a test drive back in March the Ambient was up there but the AC is so efficient that it had the interior down to a comfortable temp. within minutes. Compressor physical size is quite small compared with other stuff we looked at so that was good.
Gave the test/Demo car a fair olde hammering up the Torrens Gorge Road, plenty of bends & general changing road surfaces, sat in the sun for about 20 mins. at the top, got car warm & back down again AC still fine & has been..

BTW this is an upgrade for us .. from our current Soul Red 2013 (2014MY) Mazda3 2.0l Touring. :)
The side profile is little changed, the tail lights and grille/headlights are different. Obviously interior different too, and a sunroof.
We aren't going to tell family etc and we'll just see how long it takes anyone to notice :D

I disagree on this.

Sure there are some nice colours - the Soul Red being the standout.
But like many manufacturers these days there are numerous shades of grey, white, black and a blue, of sorts.

I'd like to see a slightly bigger range of colours akin to the Soul Red - a nice green, a nice blue, etc

And the Astina comes standard with largely black interior but white seats. SO white they'll get dirty just by looking at 'em sideways....
The models below the Astina are all black interiors - quite oppressive.

So we were fortunate in that we managed to negotiate for the dealer to get the ordinarily white parts (seats, part of the door trims, part of the dash) retrimmed after-market in tan.
I reckon it'll look much classier / more premium and will certainly be ONE of a kind :)

About a year before we left Japan we bought a (second generation) Mazda Premacy. Really nice car. When it was time to move we asked the dealer if it would be covered by the warranty in our new country and they said no, but don't worry about it because nothing will go wrong, so just take it. So we took a punt and it went on a long trip by ship to our new home and then later on another long boat ride to Australia. About 12 years and 140,000 kms later it was written off by a Hilux but in the interim it had only ever required service items, and the only glitch was with one door and the keyless central locking, which my wife and kids never bothered to get fixed. So, they are definitely reliable.

When asking around, as you do prior to purchasing, that is about the general opinion of all we asked.

Lift the bonnet & notice how well details are prepared & safeguards taken, pipes, hoses & electrical cables run etc etc (unlike the D1 [bigsad]) certainly instilled confidence in my Virgo brain.

Internally, the finish is as good as under the bonnet. It wasn't all the geegaws that sold it.[smilebigeye]

Long time ago I had a big 1940's Chrysler. Lovely car, low miles. It had been a mourner's coach at a local undertakers. Exterior was black, interior was dark tan seats with bottle green trim and carpets. Leave it in the Qld. sun for only a short time and you could cook the Sunday roast inside. However it had a scuttle vent, opening front and rear quarter windows. Open all these and the hot air was gone within a couple of blocks. Terrific ventilation. One would start closing things after a few miles as the breeze would be a bit uncomfortable at speed.
