"1969 Toyota Crown ute......"
Sorry rick bùt I have bad memories of that car....
One of my first driving experiences (and crashes) was in a mates Crown ute. We rolled it multiple times, not a straight panel on it but it landed on its wheels so we put it back the shed with 13yo logic that his dad would not know it was us! Next news my mates dad went ballistic. My mate got a hiding right there and then and I got one too for letting him be a dickhead! Haha.
Hmmm don't want a Crown ute thx.

Monumental effort, I had a Crown ute, a couple of years older than "yours", with a two litre Mercedes copy engine (M), it barely went fast enough to roll even the wheels.[biggrin]Quote:

Every apprentice before me had tried to destroy it, I think it was on its third engine by the time I got to it but it just kept going.
I learnt what understeer was, chronic overseer and often both at the same time!
Twin leading shoe front brakes were good for exactly three quick stops, so I learnt all about scrubbing speed by sliding going into a corner and carrying corner speed and momentum and limits of adhesion, which luckily are pretty low.
And I put it into a dirt bank the day I got my licence, but luckily the valence panel was already bent and buckled so dear old dad never knew!
I raced an old fella in an E38 once.
He loved it!
He'd fly past me on the short straights (the Gt Western Hwy heading west when it was getting rebuilt around Prospect) and I'd fly under him sideways under brakes, mainly as I had none!!
One of my mates had the crown sedan.What a ****box it was,every panel had a dent in it.It looked like it had just finished the round Australia rally.
We were both Fridgie apprentices at the time.
One night out late somehow we collected someones letterbox.
Three months later we had the arse jacked up with a forklift,to replace a shagged rear diff,and we found the letterbox still jammed up under the car with some mail in it.

Unreal. I never owned a Single Spinner, but I did own a Twin Spinner. Original black, brown leather interior, 100% original, 60K miles, chauffeur driven car owned by Mrs Henderson of Henderson Springs, bought it from them, I was the 2nd owner,.....and yes, I did fit dual exhausts, built & fitted by Graham Facey, the best "manifold" man in Vic, later retained by HRT.Quote:

Looking at that list its a nice mix of old classic and modern classic.
Most of you guys seem to like performance.... I just saw the jay leno episode on the latest corvette.... that bloody thing is a mid-engined supercar and is selling for $60,000usd. Unbelievable. They must be loosing a bucketload on every car. Its going to be sold in Australia as a RHD as well.
More likely just not making the obscene mark-ups that are only many if not most vehicles.Quote:
