More likely we'll get the low depression formed after the cyclone crosses land. Depending on how fast it moves, will relate to the severity of any flooding. Worse case , could be 2011 again. Or not. We'll worry about that when it happens. In the meantime, I'm planting out my native lime tree and pomegranate bush from the pots to a bed. happy days. [ Having lived in the Tropics for a number of years, and having experienced cyclones both on land and sea, I know never to underestimate the danger. My cyclone kit is packed, and bug out kit in the D2. The idea is to be prepared, not panicked. ]

Been raining most of the morning, some of it heavy, and there was 9mm in the gauge at 0600, and another 18mm since. This makes it already the heaviest rainfall since December 2018.

I looked in my raingauge this morning and all i saw in there was some dust and a dead spider[bigsad]

Around 1hr ago the heavens opened up here in Westlake ,it was like living in Cairns when there is a cyclone hanging around. We were about 1/2 km frome when it started & were stuck in the garage for about half an hour. The house & garage gutters were overflowing , the storm water drains could not cope so spoon drain in driveway overflowed into the garage so we had around 25mm of water flowing through the garage & the strainer in the top of the tanks could not cope so the water was flowing down the sides water out of the pool yesterday & it started overflowing so had come up about 175mm. I guess I will be off to the pool shop next week to spend couple of hundred dollars on salt & chemicals. It would be at least 30 years since we have had that much rain in such a short period.
Was talking to the guy at the Dollar Shop this morning said he cant keep up with the sale of umbrellas

If it keeps up like this I'm building a boat and rounding up animals two by two!

I remember that in 1770 there is a creek opposite round hill, part of the National Park. Used to be the go to place for mud crabs. Now, if you are caught with even a crab pot in your boat in the creek, It's a hanging offence. The trick is, after rain like this, wait for a couple of days, then set your pots at the edge of the brown water. As long as you are past the park boundary, you will fill your boat with crabs. [ within the limit, of course]

I see Kingscliff had 300mm over night, which is a lot of rain, now heading south.Flood warnings for most Northern NSW rivers.
We unsure if we may have to delay our planned trip to Lismore tomorrow.
Our friends at Orara will be pleased as the Orara River had stopped flowing on the surface.
Five metre waves pounding the Northern Beaches in Sydney and houses at Colloroy threatened.
Oldest son, a mad surfer, unhappy that all the beaches closed.
Rain is putting out fires down south, which is good.
People being rescued after driving into flooded rivers. Will people never learn?
