Have seen that in South Australian houses.

We have double filters on our rainwater.
The tanker water will be Sunshine Coast town water, with lovely chemicals to make it safe.

Every now and then I will buy a slab of small bottled water to use as reusable ice blocks when I am away on an extended fishing trip to keep the odd fish or two cold and they can also be used for ice in our afternoon "Drinkies" at a pinch

I clean out my rainwater tanks pretty much every year as I do my gutters and I take off the downpipes for the first "Flush" so that all the dust and bird crap that collects on the roof doesn't end up in the tanks.
It IS a PITA doing this but it IS worthwhile doing it to keep the water nice and clean.
I HATE town water especially in coffee/tea and I always take at least 100l of rainwater with us when we go away anywhere for our cuppa's

I am pleased to report that I am sitting on the porch listening to the rain and the lovely sound of water running into the nearest tank. Now we just need that to continue for several days. The forecast is promising.

I was 'Advised' today that, owing to the weather forecast, it would be a spiffing idea if I cut and split enough firewood to suit our purposes for the next few weeks.
Now, my interpretation of 'Enough firewood' and my advisers interpretation are somewhat at odds and a sensible discussion ensued, for about 10 seconds.
I am so happy to inform you all that I have been enlightened as to how much 'Enough firewood' is.

I sympathise. We have a shed full of firewood, I'm happy to report.
However, the rain has yet to exceed a drizzle up here on the hill, so you may not need to hurry.

I always keep 'enough' firewood under the house for when it is needed in wet weather.

The rest is kept in the log pile outside, which has recently become a home for the local rat population.

Seems the rats have moved in,after the local carpet snake disappeared.

BOM says we've only had 4.2mm of rain since 9am yesterday and that would be right, as it's been disappointing so far, but I'm hoping for a lot more today and tomorrow to fill our extended tank farm.
Come on Hughie, make it happen!

We had a rat and python problem and we've re-organised our wood storage, the pythons have gone to the local python forest and the rats have been evicted from our ride-on mower, so we're okay at the moment. However the rats love our avocados, so I'm sure they are still out there.

Our local auto electrician has, over the years, made a goodly sum from ride-ons and ratties.
