Yes, Covid lockdown last year in our practice, we had very little ppe gear left over after 2009 scare... we were making our own WHO formula sanister and we used old soviet tb clinic cloth design masks for staff made by my wife as no goverment stockpile...etc etc, two weeks into lockdown we get a call from health and safety, I recieved the call..are you doing this and that etc, yes we are in a medical practice etc After trying to lecture me for about five minutes asks to speak to a staff member to check I am not lying.. after two minutes into the conversation she tells him to f.. off and hangs up. Turns out he was working from the safety of his own home.. . Shouted her a bottle of wine for that.
I am so glad to have sold my rural general practice nearly 20 years ago - even back then I’d had a proper gut full of the bureaucratic BS that goes with Practice Accreditation and PIPs and SIPs.
Sure, these processes were necessary to bring underwhelming practices up to a standard, but I was seeing practices that were far exceeding these standards being dragged back to mediocrity because their far superior systems and processes weren’t recognised or aligned with the guidelines in the Accreditation Manual.
My last 20 years has been spent doing rural and remote relief work, including RFDS, just practicing proper medicine, and not having to worry about the drama of running the practice.
Now a happily retired Pa, trying to get better at golf.
UK has just announced that they will be remotely switching off electric car chargers from 8 to 11 in the morning and then from 4 to 10 in the evening. Plus random 30 minute pauses depending on demand on the system
Seems the number of electric vehicles are drawing more power than the grid can handle so need to reduce demand
Will need some mammoth planning decisions to build the power stations to meet demand if they stick to the all cars electric from 2030 statement. Not sure there is enough time for the planning process let alone building them in only 9 years
Can see some big subsidies being paid to companies to built and operate them as they can see the desperation from the government
Sort of like....... "Hi Boss, sorry I won't be in this week I am helping to power the grid".[bigrolf]
But realistically who the hell thought that one up?
Cars stay at home plugged in to help feed the factory down the street. Who will pay for the power used that you have already paid for? (a) The factory? ( b.) you again? Who would pay for the faster depreciation of the batteries?
No idea what the sums are for this but would there be enough juice to keep households & industry operating for 1/2 a day even? Personally, it sounds like a load of hot cock & wishful thinking.
I suppose Think Tanks have to appear as though they actually do something constructive.
What Scarry said. :TakeABow: Also Pie in the Sky.
Blind Freddy could see this was going to happen,it’s going to happen here as well.
And it’s going to happen in many other places around the world if the EV trend continues.
I can’t believe so many didn’t see this as an issue, particularly those politicians that are saying they are banning ICE,by such and such a date.
What it shows is that once again, they ,politicians,or whoever, have no idea WTF they are doing.
I went for one of my shorter dirt drives this weekend and it was quite busy as the suburbs are encroaching on the bush, lots of suburbanites/bogans who don't know how to drive on dirt, so driving too fast, not pulling over far enough, leaving their brights/spotties on, pro'ly as they hardly use them and lots more fast food litter, abandoned tyres, etc.
