I've found out about another act of govt. stupidity the other day, when on a rail bus replacing a train service one can't take a bicycle or even scooter on it, even though one can do so on the train outside of peak times of course! What is even more annoying is most rail buses are coaches with large cargo holds underneath that would easily fit a few bikes, scooters, etc.
In another life I drove "Rail Replacement" in Melb. Yeah, and no dogs either ( restrained dogs are OK on trains here... heck, I've seen ponies..). It's the weekend, people have a day out planned, maybe cycling with their kids, and halfway through their journey they become pariahs... I don't enjoy being abused, but in this case it's hard to blame people for having a go at the "front of house".Quote:

As to the point of the luggage bins... Unlike charter operations. PT drivers are not allowed to handle baggage of any kind under OH&S laws, at least here, and rail replacement comes under the PT mob. There even has to be a special dispensation for a driver to handle the wheelchair ramp that trains and buses are equipped with.
Dunno about Qld, but here the Govt's hands are tied, it's all in an "award" somewhere, and thus becomes a part of the rich tapestry of bureaucracy that we know and love.

One GOOSE in Right hand Lane of freeway. Slamed on Brakes and moved left- all cars and a truck who where doing the speed limit (100KPH) in that lane slammed on brakes to miss the Goose. A few minutes later the Goose did it again moving left repeating the choas in the next lane!. It was four lanes and you can guess what Goose did. L plater was in left lane happily just far enough back to to practice emergency braking like many others did!
Schools started today for the L plater. A New Goose turned left in front with out giving way to the L plater doing 55KPH in the Left lane. That BMW soft top is currently being assessed on DASH cam as I think I have it very very clearly [bigwhistle]
The L plater did do a lot of low range driving over the years in paddocks. Only one or two minor heart starters from that side. Several parents told me there was no way they would let their kids drive. I can appreciate it can be stress full. A Dash Cam might help in some instance [bigrolf]
EDIT Rego is very clear. Not going to post as a car turning left did stop the person seeing the L plater who was moving into the left lane behind the car turning left. Failed to give way clearly yet a little mitigation in the obstructed view they had. ( Shouldn't move it you cannot see of course [bigwhistle])
Over the years i have collected drawers full of the things. Unless you are of the generation where USB charges everything you'll probably be in the same boat. Every gadget, HDD, radio, pretty much anything cordless came with one. I have to have power boards with wide spacing to fit 'em all on. Wall warts. Duck heads.
I have no idea what most of them fit, as putting a label on them is way too hard, but packing them, and the useless thing they came with, in a bazillion layers of impregnable packaging was easy. Most of the things they came with stopped working years ago...or got lost, or smashed... The one label they probably DO have is one saying you cannot put them in the bin.
There are a very few tech recyclers, which are conveniently located in easily accessed locations such as South Dandenong. I'm going to need to collect about 40 more before that trip is worthwhile...
I recall a few years ago was roundly mocked when they ceased including the things with iPhones. Their competitors even had billboards for this. Then they wisely, and quietly, followed suit. I applaud this decision, whatever it's real motive was.
That bastion of civic welfare, the EU, recently passed legislation to ensure that all devices with "wired charging" should have USB-C. This was mostly aimed at , but is way smarter than a bunch of overpaid bureaucratic legislators will ever be, and will just go around it by making iPhones portless, and therefore "wireless charged" devices.
Perhaps the EU, and everyone else for that matter, should legislate a standard for wall warts, and a way of conveniently recycling the bloody things, and stop wasting billions taking on behemoths like . It's not even worth taking the Dremel to 'em to extract the copper, as there's probably none in there.
