Must be the season for Rainwater tanks if you get my drift. Got a 30 year olde Galv & subsequent cement lined tank on the bore. Looks like a major catsarstrophe is about to happen at the bottom edge as the cement is giving way inside

Rang the bloke, well, 3 actually, got some quick Quotes but the difference between the lowest & highest is about $2,100 for the same 10,000 litre Bushman Poly Tank & associated installation work including getting an excavator to crush the old one it & take it to a dump somewhere, & included Dump Fees & delivery.

Nobody has bugged me with it.

Plastic liners are worth considering. Was going to do this with my 15,000 concrete tank before a bit of a disaster in 2009. 7

the reid highway was my pet hate in wa, had to travel 16km home fro work and on dayshift i could take 2 1/2 bloody hrs.

Ken produced a Stanley knife and Trev’s mouth went dry,

He said “I’ll only cut the chair” but Trev wouldn’t let him try.



Well Ken climbed underneath the chair and tried to poke things through,

It’s times like these when you find out what your mates will really do.



They pulled and poked and prodded but all efforts were in vain

Trevor’s nut was red and raw and giving heaps of pain

All this unwanted attention was no good you realise,

Trevor’s tortured testicle swelled to twice its size.



Well the word spread quickly througT the Park,

And people tried to get a glimpse of trev’s threatened castration.

Mums and Dads and kids and dogs of every age-

Trev got more attention than the singer on the stage.



Little kids were pointing, dogs were trying to have a smell,

And Trevor, trying to cover up, said “Go to Bloody Hell”!

“Poor bloke needs an ice pack” was the only good advice,

So they sat Trevor over his esky, with his agate in the ice!



Someone called an ambulance, and they drove through the crowd,

Trev was drinking Bundy rum, and swearing very loud.

When the ambos stopped laughing they carted Trev away,

to the hospital where he was the highlight of the day.



Well Trevor’s now recovered, with both crown jewels in place,

But don’t offer him a plastic chair if you truly value your face.

And next year at the Festival Trevor will be there,

wearing tight undies and long trousers, on his canvas fold-out chair.

Depends on the person. I can taste salt down to ~2000ppm. We run our pool at 4000ppm, so while it's an order of magnitude less than seawater, it's still "salty" to me.

The dent the chlorinator makes in the salinity of the pool is practically nothing. You take ~4000ppm salt and make enough chlorine to get the level to ~5ppm. There's still 3995ppm of salt.

Most (like a significant majority) of that Chlorine gets oxidized back to salt. Loss of salt due to chlorine "evaporating" before it's used is so little as to be inconsequential. Salt loss is mostly due to drag-out, overflow, backwash or leak.

Even with a couple of thousand PPM of salt, the conductivity increase is enough to significantly increase the corrosion potential of the water. Having said that, even a "chlorine" pool is likely to have up to 1000ppm of salt due to oxidization of the chlorine over time.

Yes, that was mentioned to me as an option but the deterioration is still going on inside the tank between the Liner & the Galv so it seems it is only a matter of time before it would go tits up anyway. We plan on, God & Covid willing, to be here for another 10 years, so to save further aggro later on decided to replace the tank which has a 10 year Guarantee so I suppose the day we walk off the place it will crap itself. Cest la Vie. Hopefully a week later if it must.[bigrolf]
