It seems that I am going to have a long chat with Ramit, Sharma, Lolita or similar tomorrow as our land line is down again, after a few decent lightning strikes this arvo. I'm glad that I retained my last Ombudsman case number as I will probably have to refer to it to get some action.
I'm pretty sure that the home desktop suffered some terminal spiking as well.

Jolly good luck with your approaching long chat with the Sub-continent geezers.

Oh hang on, I just ****ed myself.

If they can't answer your questions they will simply hang up or excuse themselves while they confer with their "Manager" & leave you hanging until you get ****ed off & hang up. "By golly gosh, would sir like to complete a short survey at the end of our conversation?"

    **** off Gunga Din.

Always, always, always run sensitive equipment through a surge protection power board.

Ray, the computer, modem, monitor, printer, cordless phone, weather station console etc. are all powered through two surge boards.

The only things affected appear to be the 'puter and weather console. Oh, that's not counting the land line.

I have just had a chat with a chap from 'Telstra', named Francisco. What a pleasant, intelligent and understanding bloke!
Yes, I'm serious here. Only took a couple of minutes to get my call answered and all done and dusted in 20 minutes or so, with a tech coming out this Friday. No cause for any complaints about assistance this time.

I wonder if the fiasco from a couple of years ago comes up on their info when they access my account?

Are you sure you dialed the right number?

I'd bet your past history would be flagged when you call. Good to hear a tech is coming out. Sometimes the system can actually work.

As a carry on ( in more ways than one), my computer tech dropped in yesterday arvo and our desktop has been neutralised. It appears that the damage was done by input through the phone line, as the modem is cactus, too. Another reason is that all the other gizmos in the same power boards are OK.

Carry on #2. After extolling the virtues of one 'Francisco', I received a phone call from the big 'T' at 1835 yesterday, saying that their tech couldn't make the allotted Friday appointment time and a tech will now appear on Wednesday 29th, between 0800 and 1700!
.....................and so, it begins! Talk about 'Déjà Vu'!

Ron, this was after receiving the text message below at 1828 yesterday! Now, seeing I spend most of my time wandering around the property, it's no biggie for me but, what if I was someone who had organised time off from work or had arranged for another person to be in attendance?
It's really not good enough, is it?

I'm thinking that, instead of being obliging, I should have told them that their new arrangements do not suit me and I wish the tech to be here on the original, set date.
What do you reckon my chances would have been?

Hi from Telstra, a technician will attend your property between 8am and 12pm tomorrow Friday, Jan 24. If your service is already working and you'd like to cancel the appointment, please reply 'cancel'. Thank you.
