I have to respect his wishes despite me knowing better. Very conflicted in that regard.

Maybe the Principal is also scared these day that they could be the victim of an assault by this crowd? Who knows?

If he is going to another school anyway would that matter? I think there comes a time when our kids just have to be protected, that is a parent's duty. Next time & there will be a "Next time" by the same bunch of thugs some poor kid may die & how would he feel then knowing he could have helped in stopping this?

He obviously is scared of repercussions down the track. I believe expensive Colleges are no better & probably some are worse.

Hard choice for you I know, but my best wishes to you.

He is 13 and you are his Dad - being a Dad has responsibilities and you need to take charge and lay a complaint with the Police and the Dept of Education and then take the time to explain to your son.

Parents need to take a stand and safeguard the safety of their kids, even if the kids do not understand.

Agree - at the very least sit down with the Principal and let them know you’ll be escalating it to the Police and Department of Education - watch how quick they act, and then follow through on it, don’t make it an empty threat.

Have been through a very similar thing some years ago when my Daughter got the **** kicked out of her by 3 other Girls - no action at all until I’d discussed it with the Police who went around and had a chat to the Principal who then sorted it.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

Yes, I recommend you report it to the police. Make sure to tell them it was on camera so the evidence is not destroyed.
Also complain to the Minister for Education. It will be passed back down to the department which will have to investigate and report to the minister.
Sad thing is some schools are dangerous now because of kids being forced to stay longer at school, but they don't want to be there. If they were out of school and did assaults the police would automatically be involved.

    I have notified the department.
As for the police, i was reluctant to go further beyond saying some are Aboriginal but i will say a little more.
Around here where i live it seems some segments of the community get treated differently to others.
    Not limited to police actually.

Reality is this. If we call the cops then in all likelihood we will have 40 of them out the front of my house.
It happens on a far to regular basis. Often involving weapons and at times guns.
Cops will come but only after the smoke settles.

Finally given the assault took place in school grounds i would have thought the school would have called the police? Perhaps even have a duty to do so?

Not with a spineless principal that you seem to have got there as it is the "easy way, non ruffling, think of my career", stuff & it will take more pressure from you.

Yes it would be good to know what the Official Guidelines/ Procedures/Obligations/Requirements are but I doubt they would exclude having the Old Bill involved.

Principal said to me she viewed the footage and did not think it was a really big deal!
There's the problem right there: SHE!

IT might help if we had a rough idea of where you live. Australia is quite a large place.

Got to the point where you no longer believe the forecast. Have not had an accurate severe weather warning this year or last. Seems the reports are made to be sure the time it does happen they can say they got it right.

This winter was supposed to be the coldest and most snow for 40 years. Am yet to see any snow. As the snow season traditionally runs from January to early April might still see some perhaps

Thinking the weather forecast is paid for by the clothing retailers so people will go out and spend on new cold weather gear
You should write to The Times airing your complaint about the lack of snow. Also contact your member and have him raise the matter in the Commons. Is the member for North Yorkshire still Claude Jeremiah Greengrass?

I just recalled this attack was witnessed by Teachers. Did they not try to break it up or help your son in any other way?

If not then they would have a case to answer IMHO. Protection? Personal Safety? Duty of care? or are they tarred with the same brush as the Head?
