Yeah, but it's a bugger when they get an I 120 stuck between the duals, ona quick stop at Woolies.

You got me curious so I went searching and found various answers.
There is an Australian Standard parking space of 2400 x 5400mm.
But there are variations depending on the situation, say street parking vs parking stations.
Each state and each LGA also seems to have its own code and there seem to be variations.
I found references to widths ranging from 2200 to 2900 and lengths from 5000m upwards.
Parking a 2176mm wide Disco 4 in a car park with 2200mm wide spaces might be tricky, and hazardous to mirrors.
So it's all a bit confusing really, like life in general.
As the old joke goes, if you're not confused it means you're not paying attention, because if you were paying attention, you'd be confused.

Check the standard. If they don’t comply, complain.

    2 x 4wds aren’t any worse than 2x full size sedans.

Sabrina? A bit before my time Dave. Actually, I've never driven an ERF.

The things are huge! Park beside one then try to open your door, they hang a foot over the sides of the parking bay.
Passing one on a narrow road, one of you is in the dirt.
Try to look around one to overtake - best of luck with that!
When they park in a center bay they stick out either end.
I had a bit of a look at one, the doors are 3 foot thick, they bulge out everywhere & every thing inside is oversize. Just about need a 2 way to talk to your passenger they are that far away from you.
    Silly bloody car.

The local council here has said it will not take those US utes into consideration when designing and installing car park spaces.

Which i suppose is fair enough.

Maybe some enterprising bugger could set up two large band saws utilising Diamond tipped blades/cables like they used to cut up the Channel Car Ferry a few years back. Set the blades to the Max. required & when they drive in they have to make a very quick decision if the want their "Truck" altered or not. Each side of the Saw assy you place a Skip which automatically collects the side off cuts which are auto ejected into it. At Day's end there should be a really nice collection of Rad Grille sections, Headlamps, Aerials, rear guards & all sorts. Would make a nice little sideline.

A win/ win both ways. A narrow vehicle or they park somewhere else?

Should be good to reduce widths by a couple of feet.

    For those without a S o H this is a TiC.

Aside from length, they pretty much are if they accomodate a LR D3/4

Personally I think there should be more of those Yank derived vehicles out there.

They’re far safer towing those monstrous vans so many insist on hauling with light little tow vehicles.
