The pain was so bad that I could not focus on starting the engine for a few minutes. It was not too bad while driving, but when I had to get out at the first gate, I could barely walk. Putting the step down meant I could get back in, but I had to wait a couple of minutes before continuing; and repeat at each gate.

Not much else got done this afternoon, although I did manage to split enough wood for the night - already down to 9.3C.
I trust all will be well, John. It is important to keep the fire burning. We hit 4°C this a.m.

You've gotten away with it for longer than most John. Now you have to think: What was the movement that caused this pain? Then stop doing that movement ever again. Go and see your Doctor. I wish you could go and see my Doctor He's a wiz at muscle-sceletal problems, but go and see yours.
Might be time to start taking Glucosamine. I have to keep cranking with the young'ns for a couple of years yet, so I dose myself with that, Vitamin C by the bucket, Fish oil and vitamin B. because my Hours prevent me from having a proper diet. Keeps me going though. That and not doing the movements that set off inflammation.
    Cheers, Billy.

I am reluctant to go to town to see anyone including doctors unless I absolutely have to until we see where this current outbreak is going. I cancelled my podiatrist appointment last week.

Ouch- Soft tissue, Tendons or joint degeneration . A scan Ultrasound to start John- Off to the Doctor or a phone consultion just might do it with cupper in your hand.

    Hope it self resolves mate

Suggest you do a phone consult with your doctor and arrange to get it scanned.
    Does your knee feel inflamed?
Have you ever had a similar problem with that knee before?
A relation has just had a shoulder operation because he ignored pain for a long time. It appears the operation has failed and his pain is continuing. If he'd acted earlier, he might not now have a permanent injury.

Out of hospital imaging is becoming expensive.

Sore hips which I suspect is arthritis so visit the doctor - he gives me an imaging referral for an xray of both hips and an ultra sound - symptoms indicate it could be arthritis or a soft tissue issue.

Head to the imaging place - quote is $1000 and with medicare will be $700. Sorry no thanks. Doctor was shocked as it would seem GPs have little idea of the costs of referrals they make.

So will be off to the hospital to get put on the imaging waiting list.

We work very hard to control just what you just hit. I'd suggest you ring other imaging centers from alternate companies - They will accept the referral your doctor gave you the the one charging a well over the rates here in Melbourne !

    Find a clinic | I-MED Radiology Network
    https://www.canberraimaging.com.au/
    Locations - Health Care Imaging

    and
GMI Canberra - Garran Medical Imaging

Are you on a pension card- hope not but it might help!

It is highly unlikley your doctor would be at all bothered as long as you get the U/S and xrays which enables you to see what the issue is and then get treatment you may need.

A referral to a hospital out patients waiting list is here a 6month to several year waiting event! Get on the phone and ask re costs. Do not be afraid to even consider going a bit further to get the cost to a much better than the quote you just got

Health cover does not cover this sort of stuff. Same as it does not cover the cost of doctor's visits, specialists or meds.

Different if you have already been in hospital or a private hospital with your cover and imaging services are needed as a followup but referrals from doctors are either bulk billed (not entitled), pay the medicare gap (me) or pay a concession card gap (not entitled).
