I am not sure - part of the reason for asking my question. His insignia means he outranks the Victoria Police Commissioner by about 3 levels and the fire commissioner by 2 levels.

No 101 I don't know, but considering Human Nature it is a good guess.

Post WW2 SA had a Brigadier as a Police Commissioner does this help with your query, so did the wartime rank follow on as an Honorary position even though there was no war? Dunno.

The geographoic spread of the fires particularly around NW Sydney are simply because there are two enormous and inaccessible National Parks there in Wollomi, Yengo and Dharug.
All of these parks are mountainous and inaccessible and basically the fires are let to burn as there is no danger to housing except when the fires reach

the fringes. There was a bit of hand wringing about the Wollomi pines which are wait for it in an inaccessible position.

South of Katoomba it was the Blue Mountains National park which is wait for it mountainous and inaccessible. Further south it was the Kanagr Boyd National Park and the Nattai National Park.
See a common thread there somewhere?

Re Wollomi Pines.

As you would be aware Philip there is plenty of Wollomi Plant Stock available since they were discovered, so that wouldn't be a huge loss nowadays. I know, that wasn't your question.:rolleyes:

I personally think thats just wrong to treat someone on centrelink like that. Volunteer work (any volunteer work not just firefighing) should be encouraged, especially for people who may be long term unemployed who actually want to work (Im well aware that some long term unemployed dont want to work).

His rank insignia indicates he is one rank higher than any military officer could ever be. A full General (Chief of the Defence Force equivalent) insignia has crossed swords indicating General rank, then a crown and pip which together make up a General. I don't know how centrelink assesses volunteer work. I do know that centrelink qld accepts Queensland Volunteer Marine Rescue Squadrons as bona fide work places for centrelink applicants.

How it works I don't know , but they are registered workplaces and receive full WHS benefits. There are a lot of comprehensive rules and regulations SOP's etc just like any registered workplace.
