Fire here seems to be close to being controlled. A helicopter with a bucket went over late this afternoon - I have no idea where it was getting water, all the dams round here are dry.

Also heard what could possibly have been the DC-10 back again, but did not see it.

That's good. Stay safe and don't be a hero - just go if it comes. Too many people dead already this fire season.

Fires are creeping closer here, latest report has them about 2.5km away but controlled. Thursday was a bit stressful with the winds and the road out to the Princes Highway was shut. Has settled down a bit now and we should be fine so long as the winds don't work against us. The local Potato Point RFS is doing an absolutely fantastic job, along with the other local brigades and others from further afield who've come to help. Had the chopper filling up at the beach and dumping water on the fires for the last couple of days. The whole house shakes when it flies overhead.

    Stay safe everyone.

Another new fire just reported here. Probably from the thunderstorms last night (I got all of 0.75mm!) This one is further away and on the other side of a major road, so less likely to pose a threat to me.
