No much in the south west (about 6km away) - barely noticeable, just a bit of wind and rain that did not last long. Sun is out now.

My so just called from the National Library in Canberra. He tells me (with pictures) that they have just had golball sized hail, and all the cars in the carpark, including his, look like writeoffs. He has lost windscreen and rear window, and has an all over "golfball" finish.

I am guessing it was very localised - on the rainfall radar it was a fairly small patch of very heavy rain just south of the location shown as Canberra (which I assume is Civic), that showed up as black and on the "rainfall in the last five minutes was about 10mm/5min". Probably passed over belconnen and places in between as well.
But of course, probably only some of it had large hail.
The storm we had here last night was also very patchy - Dubbo, 50km away got a dust storm that made the national news, and 2mm, we got a little dust and 0.5mm, a property about 8km from here got 25mm at the house but think they got a lot more on part of it due to the localised flooding.

Same in Melbourne yesterday, very patchy, some suburbs got hardly any rain, thunder whatever, but then neighboring suburbs. only a few ks away, got absolutely smashed. Having had a car badly damaged by hail some years ago, we are very much aware of the damage that hail can do.
Pickles.
My son's insurer has managed to get a tow truck - with great difficulty. Seems they are in demand in Canberra this afternoon!

Replace the glass...enjoy the new metal texture. Golf balls are dimpled to reduce air friction...
- Is it Global Warming? or the trend towards Global Cooling that is giving the Eastern side the heavy rains ....

It can't be driven, the windscreen is too bad. He just arrived home in the flatbed, and tells me that the insurer is going to write it off. He has his eye on one locally, same model, for sale for slightly more than his payout. It is two years newer and has done 100,000km less. And was not in the hailstorm. And has not had repairs from a bad roo strike.
