Mine's a little obscure. With my surname being Holmes, inevitably my nickname a school was Sherlock. One of my friends there had a very broad Scouse (Liverpool) accent. Whenever he said Sherlock, it always sounded like Sheerluck.
Guess it's stuck ever since!
Just something I used to call my daughter when she was little.
Mine is kind of a long story! Real name is Justin Pedersen.
Since early primary school when all nicknames were a shortened real name, I was "Ped", which very quickly had a vowel added on the end. So since about grade 2 I've been known as "Pedo". (Pronounced with a short "e". Pedo. Not Peado.)
A lot of friends still call me Pedo, but you can see how some people don't like that name. ;) Of course grade 2 kids had no idea what else it could mean....
A few years ago - drinks at the pub - it was decided I needed a second nickname for those that didn't like Pedo. First suggestion was "Ju" from Justin and "do" from Pedo. Many friends have called me Judo ever since!
Unfortunately I don't know any martial arts.
