I wonder what you consider is a reasonable price?
We have had quotes to remove a eucalypt in my daughters yard , about a 40 footer , not much change from $2grand from 4 quotes.
Perhaps be prepared for a shock.
Always seems to be team of kiwis.

And make sure they have the appropriate insurances. If it goes pear shaped, two grand could look like pocket money.
If you don't like trucks, stop buying stuff.
An arborist might be a better bet than a 'tree lopper'. Someone called here at the weekend but I can't find the business card, if I do I'll let you have the number.
We have about 19 spruce trees at the back of the property, last quote was $40K for removal and they need to bring a crane through a neighbour's property !!
Cost about $5K for a serious prune and removal of dead branches about 5 years ago.

My mum used "Spartan tree services", she is in Mt Martha. They did a good job and advice.
All organised today, got a Tree company doing it $600 less. ( Good saving for a pensioner) and are a proper tree company with insurance etc. They didn't demand Cash either like the first company either.
as for teams of maoris, wouldnt' trust them as we have had a couple of teams of scammers in areas here taking people for a ride. everyone has been warned.
