DISAGREE,....no politics here,...and if we succeed in "evading" this evil.......what will the history books say?
NO PLACE for politics on this subject.

One ship last week everyone disembarked as it was deemed low risk, but....
All have since been placed in 14 days self isolation.

The next three ships you can bet that won't be happening, they'll go straight into 14 days isolation.

I don't think Australia is doing enough and I expect our cases graphs will show that. I think we will track along with all of the other countries who haven't dealt with it quickly and with conviction.

What I do find worrying is that the 1st 'letup' is a false end & it could come back & bite us heavily on the arse as so little is known about this bastard of an invisible thing. If it showed itself as say Black or Red Swastikas at least we'd be aware, until then you take precautions & keep your legs crossed.

Heaven forbid if it is a 2nd or 3rd or even a 4th time false end.

Btw. just back in from getting some cash in the house & saw A BP Station with ULP at $1.06 litre. Bit of a bastard as we didn't need fuel this week. I'm sure it will be an ongoing price for a while yet.

The only bit of brightness on the horizon is that a significant part of the rising numbers is from new overseas arrivals. After today there should only be a tiny trickle of these as the border closure takes effect. This should result in a lower than expected increase in numbers in about a week - but note that for the last week or two we have had a steady 3-4 days for doubling the numbers. Unless this slows dramatically, the numbers get very scary very quickly.

It will take probably a fortnight before the numbers show whether current restrictions are working, but any slowdown due to no more foreign carriers* will be a big help..

    * About 30% of the cases so far came from overseas and about another 20% are their direct contacts.

Am I positive?...well I try to be, but at the moment I'm not,...as I've said before, I'm not sure that Aussie is going to go in hard enough,..there are too many "Gaps" to "beat the curve", which is what we have to do. Just yesterday, my wife was in a Chemists, and a guy walks in & says, "I'm positive, I just need so & so"......too much of this happening. In China or some other countries, that person would be locked up.
Want a couple of others, well yesterday 2700 people walk of a ship,..free to go anywhere, no testing. AND, what about the 30,000 Chinese students recently coming here via Bali?
You can google both these "happenings", if you like.
I also have VERY grave doubts that if we don't "beat the curve", in early time, our already tightly stretched health system will be totally overwhelmed.
I now wait to be flamed, Pickles.
NB: Just one more aspect, don't know how many of you live near, or shop in, a decent sized supermarket,...Have you noticed how "Social Distancing" is working correctly there?......Yeah right,......like I said,...too many gaps, & some Aussies aren't on the ball.
Thanks for that. You'll put yourself in an early grave, if you're not careful. And it wont be the virus it will be stress. And I would not like to see that. So, turn off your TV & radio, and go smell the roses.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Fair dos, but let the Moderators remove it they collectively think fit.

Pickles. If we evade it I expect that History will reflect that as well. Why not?

Sorry to say, and most importantly, and I wish I was wrong, but unfortunately,.....WRONG.
We've gotta do better, MUCH better.......if we wanna WIN.
I still believe there's quite a few Aussies who do not comprehend what this is all about,...wanna dispute that?...then why the Bondi Beach situation?

No worries at all Bob, all I ask is that you face REALITY.
What I've posted is actual FACT,....you wanna go into fantasy land & quote all sorts of whatever "links" you like,....Go for it!!....I'm stating FACTS that have actually occurred,....you wanna dispute them,...well go for it,but tell me where I'm wrong,....please.,...and be specific, as unlike some, I only deal in facts,....and ya know what, in this case I would actually like to bee proven wrong.
