Like RhinoVirus Type 37 is the name of the virus but the Common Cold is what you get from it.
Thanks, but this is doing my head in. The only Sars I want to hear about is sold over the public bar. Cheers.

To the people that keep discussing the mortality rate. You are missing the point of the actions currently underway. The issue is a health care system capacity problem. Approximately 14% of confirmed cases (not actual case, confirmed cases) require hospital care. They require this care because they are in respiratory distress. This means that they can't absorb sufficient oxygen to live. Initially they need oxygen and in the more severe cases they require a ventilator. If they survive, they may need that ventilator for up to four weeks.

The problem is.... there are not enough ventilators to support the peak demand at the currently rate of infection. This is plain and simple math. It is not a conspiracy. It is not panic. It is basic, simple math. Once the ventilator capacity is exceeded, then people that could be saved will die. This will results in a higher mortality rate.

So... We are self isolating and social distancing for one reason. To reduce the rate of infections in the population to a point that the peak ventilator need is less than the amount available.

Take off your tin foil hats and deal with reality. Stop worrying about the economy. Worry about people's lives.

Yep, Jacinda Ardern put one of the key reasons down to travelers and recent arrivals not respecting the requirement to self-isolate for the required 14-days after arrival. Stupid people (tourists and kiwis also) were being found 'out and about' not isolating.

From midnight last night we will not allow anyone who is not a citizen/resident entry unless they are absolutely necessary for some urgent need or already in the air and about to land. I looked at Flightradar and there are only four planes still in the air heading our way and as they departed before the doors were closed they'll be allowed to enter. They are the last ones.

    Interesting times.

Well, there goes that theory. Makes sense when you think about it, it must be non script drugs that are running out, like mentioned. [ Panadol and asthma drugs]

I draw the line at putting Kale on a pizza. Salmon and yoghurt? Wait, that could be the Welsh influence.
