Misguided state governments with an agenda to appear "Tough"

The Victorian situation is less severe with new applications for firearms suspended. I don't know the rules there, maybe you need a permit for ammunition, if so this is also stopped for recreational shooters but is still open for those which have a need such as farmers etc.

I went out and bought some ammo this morning just in case aunty Gladys gets any ideas.

What you thinking Tote, she might call up the NSW Rifles & invade SEQ?

Nope, not taking on Queenslanders, even if they are low on ammo.

Social distancing is working. The virus is mutating, but each strain is no more harmful than the first. Surely this means it might burn itself out?

Coronavirus is mutating but social distancing is stopping the spread

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

Yes that was a silly remark by me. You are much closer to Vic.

Not in NSW at least, you need to show your shooters licence when collecting it.

Yes, I do know alcohol and Covif go to different places, but its still an interesting thought.

corona needs to pass though the throat, as does alcohol so the alcohol will help.

I planned for my retirement and got two rental units 30 years ago - no longer have mortgages but still all the other expenses - rates, water, body corporate and whatever is left from the rent goes to support my day to day living.

Now there is a good chance my tenants will default and under the current rules I will have to let them stay there rent free and pay their water usage - if I still had mortgages I might get assistance but as I dont have any no luck there. So my income will drop very low and because of the assets test (low income though) I will not be able to claim any government benefits and have to wear the loss myself.

Like most self funded retirees, I did the right thing in my working life and planned ahead and at each crisis, it is self funded retirees that dip out. I am expected to fund my tenants but get nothing back in return .

Thankfully I am a bit of a porker so should survive for a while .

Yes same here,we will be self funded, commercial properties,no mortgages.

One tenant has asked for rent relief, for three months, which will equate to around 7% of the net annual rent we get for all the properties.
That tenant has no cash reserve, not really my issue,he has had the business for over 10yrs and turns over more than $6M a year.
He chooses to run his business the way he has,and is now struggling,so he says.
Until my accountant looks through his books, there will be no relief.
Then after 3 months, his books will need to be looked at again,if more relief is requested.

More than likely we will give the relief, but the amount is yet to be negotiated.
We have always been of the opinion that something is better than nothing,an empty shed costs us a huge amount of $.

Many say we should have bought more properties, borrowed more money, blah, blah.
The economic climate these days,is a good reason why we didn't do that.
Greed will often get people into trouble. Many commercial building owners are in huge trouble, particularly those that have the large mortgages.Same as many with residential rentals.

Re hand sanitiser - a local garage sells E85 - so should make a good but stinky hand santiser.

I dont think the zombies know about E85 yet.

    Same in QLD.

    I just reloaded a heap,so all good.

As for the smaller stuff,a guy gave me 1000rounds of .22 HV that were deemed 'out of date',by a Govt department,a while ago.

So all good there as well.
