The Chemo was ~5 days per round, so ~30 days of chemo across 6 rounds. Rounds 1-4 were first line treatment. After round 4 we were told we were done, slapped on the arse on the way out the door and wished a "have a nice life, you are no longer an oncology patient". We left hospital 22nd of Dec last year and were told he was in remission mid Jan. Much booze was drunk.

27 days later at a routine blood test we got, "Oh, that doesn't look great" and we started treatment 4th of March. That was 2 rounds to get it back into remission to prep for the BMT. The BMT started with 8 days of Chemo.

As you'd well understand, you have 5 days of Chemo, but then have zero immune system for the next 3-4 weeks, so in complete flow room isolation to ensure nothing gets in. Not quite boy in the bubble, but pretty close. The first week or so post-chemo he's a bit slow, but then he's back to full on canonball 4 year old, but stuck in a small room. That's almost as challenging.

Blood is hard enough to get, but these kids use inordinate amounts of Platelets. They are a lot harder to get. I had a huge argument with the hospital earlier this year as they changed protocol and were suddenly discarding portions of a unit of platelets. For us it was as much as a fifth of a unit. After 40(something) units of platelets they were suddenly not using the full bag. I went (politely and diplomatically) mental and won that argument. They also agreed to re-examine the change.

So yeah, I have a nice letter from the commissioner of the DOT in WA politely explaining why they couldn't approve my plate application for FCKCANCER. I'll frame that. Which reminds me, I need to apply for a refund or I might apply for ANTICHRST.

Remember Donald & his "It'll all be over by Easter" remark. Wassit bollocks. Plonker. I reckon that was said about WW1 but it was Xmas not Easter. In fairness to him though, he didn't specify which Easter.

    I
Easter in two years time ? Three ?

The more tests you do, the more 'positives' you'll get. But we need accurate figures and respond to them, not media or political spin...

In the coronavirus pandemic, we're making decisions without reliable data

This is an example of political shenanigans...

Well, if making ridiculous statements takes your mind off the virus, far be it for me to burst your bubble. Good luck with whatever the future holds.

At quite late notice they informed us we'd have to uproot and move East (NSW, QLD or VIC) for ~4 months to make this happen, and at even later notice they sent us to RCH.

So here we are. Day 0 was yesterday (donor cell infusion), and we'll be here until some time after day 100 when (all going well) they tell us we can head back West.

So while I'm very grateful to Victoria for having us, I'm pretty ****ed off a the situation and the muppets I see on a daily basis ignoring all the rules.

Edit : And I'm still ****ty COVID-19 took Tim Brooke Taylor....
    Geez,hope all goes well.

One of my sons has Chronic Myaloid Leukemia,so I have a fair idea what you are going through.

He was one of the first and the youngest in the country to go onto drugs instead of a bone marrow transplant.

After 20 yrs he leads an almost normal life.

Thinking of you and your family.

You know, It's stories like yours that bring us down to Earth. Having to have the worry of a loved one seriously ill must be very difficult , and to be in BradC's family position extremely so. I'm not under 45,so marrow donor is off the list. But now my blood pressure is under control, will be off to the blood bank next week, to give what I can. Best wishes to your family, and BradC's. It's hard to imagine how difficult things must be for them, but they sound strong. Reminds me of Kipling's Poem, which finishes with " you're a better man than me , Gunga Din.". All the best to you both.

If they had stayed on the bus they would needed permits and these would have been checked by police and if not correct, returned to NSW but walking across none of this is relevant.

So a back packer who was in Melbourne before the shutdown would have been able to get into Qld even though you needed a pass to get in.

This should be treated with the same amount of disdain as most of the hot air that comes out of the Canberra bubble.

Yeah, I know. But it's almost like some are wishing it to happen. Hard to understand that attitude.
