NSW front line workers are being vaccinated with the Pfizer one, if what I observed when I went in for mine is a true indication.
    Cheers, Billy.

No vaccines are 100% effective, but the approved covid vaccines are among the most effective that have ever been made.

Because of the short time that the vaccines have existed, we have no evidence to show to what extent the vaccines reduce transmission, but experience with other vaccines says that it will be very greatly reduced even if the vaccinated patient does become infected (but is possibly without symptoms).

Similarly, because of the short time the vaccines have existed, we have no evidence as to how long immunity lasts. This depends mainly on the virus rather than the vaccine. Again, this knowledge will come with experience.
Also, because of the short time the vaccines have existed, we have no evidence as to what effects (side or otherwise) they will have on the body in the long term. And yes, this knowledge will come with experience.

Over 50's to get a vaccine of their own. AstraZeneca.

AstraZeneca jabs will be available for people over 50 at state and territory vaccination centres as well as respiratory clinics from May 3 before being sent to all GPs from May 17.

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

And this time the has been confirmed community transmission. I can hear the 3 part time contact tracers pulling on their brown cardies and pulling out the white pages.

The Perth lockdown. It came from India, two people spent time in the community before testing positive. Three new cases of blood clots linked to AZ, one an 80 year old man. All these cases have , I believe , been with people who have underlaying medical conditions. Once the medical people sort this out, it should be simple to pin point who may be susceptible to clotting, and act accordingly.

The key is one of those people (the one who flew to Melbourne) apparently contracted it while in Quarantine and what triggered the lockdown was he had transmitted it to someone he'd been in close contact with. So yes, two people so far had "spent time in the community" before testing positive, but the trigger was one of those gave it to the other which indicated he's capable of spreading it.

That's very unlike the last lockdown where the guy apparently covered almost the entire metro area while positive and gave it to nobody.
