My second astra is due on 14th next month, which I most definately will have.

I am now scheming up how I am going to get a double shot of pfizer near xmas when (supposedly) plenty should be around.

Not being greedy, just want the best protection possible and since there is a slight difference, as in one makes a better T cell response while the other makes for a better different kind of immune response (yep cannot remember specifics sorry).

I am sure that somewhere I read a first astra shot followed by pfizer second shot is giving a slightly better 'best of both' effect.

So why get tipsy when I can get drunk.

Of course we are not prepared. Just look at the carry on by many in 2019/20 The Govt. Printing Office should be churning out Official Handbooks to each & every Authority that needs them with up to date additions to follow very quickly.

I have already mentioned this somewhere here. We have to be far better organised with who does what, when & how.
It is no good duck shoving the important decisions around until some weak bastard gives in for Political expediency so the buck stops, but he/she still isn't clear on what their duties & responsibilities are.

So much seems to have been made on the fly which is just a bit acceptable, this being the first Max. Pandemic that has struck here but by Jesus it really has to get much better.

Using the time and money to vaccinate the remainder of Australia instead of building Quarantine facilities would have a better result in a shorter time.........

I think most would agree with that. The Victorian Acting Premier especially. But that doesn't mean proper facilities shouldn't be a priority. Qld may have dodged a bullet, with another positive case from hotel quarantine. Thankfully not the Delta variant, but the UK one. A flight assistant tested positive after her 14 day quarantine time, caught it from another in hotel quarantine. Time to stop being reactive and become proactive with this problem. It would be a good start.
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking

After much thought and debate amongst health officials Worldwide, it has been stated a first jab of AZ followed by a second of Pfizer would give the best protection. However, we have to go with what we have. Victoria have said they will start testing a new vaccine of the Pfizer type at the end of the year. That could be our silver bullet, especially if they can make a booster jab that covers all variants. It is possible , they say.

Well said , mate. Complacency is our enemy. These latest outbreaks of the delta kind may just be the catalyst to kick things along a bit. hopefully. 3rd son's partner was to go to Sydney for work commitments for a week this week. Still waiting to see if she decided not to go. Son took a week off to look after the kids, not sure what the go is if she has to quarantine on arrival back. Nana & Poppy again I guess. Lucky we taped the wiggles on fox.

if the govt is building a dedicated quarantine faculty, then its at least 2 years before work commences, then the govt of the day will be accursed of building a white elephant, too little too late, bla bla bla.

The reports I read said they wouldn't need to/wasn't a priority as they had enough home grown varieties.

When are authorities going to learn not to house people with no Covid with people who do have Covid - you would think they would have learned after the SA fiasco - yet in Qld the hostie with no Covid is quarantined in the same hotel with aircrew who do have it and of course the hostie catches it in quarantine then unbeknown spreads it around after being released.

Yes specialist quarantine centres should be in place but really - authorities should be doing better with what they have - blind freddie can see what will happen when you house non covids with covids.

This is why people have little confidence in the ability of these authorities to manage the pandemic. The only thing we did right was close the international border - everything else has been pure luck and mostly the lack of it.

People who test positive in hotel quarantine are transported to a hospital and isolated until they have recovered. Non Covids are not housed with Covids. Not knowingly. How that hostie was infected is under investigation. The two women arrived on different flights and were on different floors of the Hotel. However the facts should not get in the way of a good story.
