Main issue is people not taking it seriously and pollies blustering not helpling?
NSW- 177 new infections were announced today – a record in the current outbreak. with bucket loads of "I was wandering about while infectious".
I wonder if dead people in Vic and millions else where are considered fake news by some? I know many people feel it is other peoples problem and not theirs. I think we all share it myself.
The rate of vaccinations is going up and will go up faster as GPs, pharmacist and the Big and small vaccine centres is going up and will go faster as more vaccines are available for us to us.

Reports today of a funeral that was held with 50 people against regulations - 45 have tested positive........ Clearly there are some people who put cultural norms above the need to contain the virus.
Sydney Covid:177 new cases in NSW, Pendle Hills funeral cluster grows

Very tough for people in the Sydney suburbs with the tightest restrictions, however, they can still move 10kms. Didn't Melbourne have a 2km limit last year? Melbourne also peaked at over 700 cases daily and was locked down for 112 days, so that's much worse than Sydney, bad as it is.
It seem weird to me that people who suspect they may be or are want to wander about and some of them are. A nurse who is positive for Covid asked to come to work is in the news for a classic example
If I/we live in a area with active cases I would assume everyone including me is dangerous to everyone else and possibly myself if I did some of the things some people are choosing to do.
Calling names or abuse is not going to help. Rule/guides/common sense are barely an enforcement. They only work with co-operation a lot like driving on the left hand side of the road here in OZTry that in some places and your more than a bit of a rebel.
Was 5km I think and yes Melbourne was far far worse last year. I think NSW has actually done OK when you consider 170 odd cases per day when it should be thousands of new cases. A lot to be done and it could turn bad but is arguably being held in check at the moment.
A little context - NSW is doing about 100,000 covid tests per day and detecting about 170 total cases per day - while it should be 0 cases per day, the results show the infection is not as widespread as many would have up believe but it should still be zero - 170 out of 100,000 is not too bad.

Dunno why you want to make comparisons like this, many things are different.
No one was vaccinated in Melbourne last year.
The importance of aerosol transmission was not known then.
No scanning at supermarkets, petrol stations, etc or any other reporting of one's presence at those sorts of venues last year.
Mobility in Melbourne is way higher in Melbourne than Sydney due to the road network and public transport, etc.

Usual a difference between knowing you have or may have covid19 exposure and blowing our nose if we have allergies or any of the roughly 250,000 people who have a run of the mill not Covid 19 respiratory issue every day.
A Mia Culpa re Sydney lock down issues perhaps may be from your thoughts on a day off??
The job keeper and ....$$$ which federal government had been paying was possibly a reason a lot of Victorians did not riot and made it a bit easier to kill wild Covid cases here. With the feds and state governments now hand in pockets helping I hope sydney/nsw settles and gets it like we did. Fear of staving or going bankrupt is clearly not a happy place to be.
The delay aside- Glad to see news that money for those impacted is back on the table.
Not seen a cent of it myself. Not grumbling about that either.![]()
