Ladies, if a man says he will fix it, he will. There is no need to remind him every 6 months about it.

Lupus - Malaria - Rheumatism drug being re-purposed

Came across this recently, finding uses for older, cheap drugs.
On another forum, they speak of a 'shortage' and difficulty in filling prescriptions - for the folk who need it for lupus or rheumatism - or even malaria.
Apparantly it can be used to ward off a possible COV infection after exposure, though it can produce some challenging side-effects.

About $18 at a large chemist chain.

Old malaria drug hydroxychloroquine may help cure coronavirus: study

Sadly, there is no cure for the FEAR being spread around, and when you think about it, this plague is a Capitalist's delight.- Takes out the older, high(er) national medical - cost patients, thus reducing government (age) Pension co$ts, freeing up their money for the younger & less wise beneficiaris to spend... and invest.

As always, whenever you feel the need for (running around in circles) speed, ask the question:-

    "Who Profits?"

    (Almost) Tongue in cheek.

Pickles, no one knows how long a vaccine is away. Every one is aware of what the rules are. I suggest those breaking the rules are not on this forum. You may have to take your crusade elsewhere.

The 'new' anti flu pill has been approved. It can fight flu as soon as symptoms strike.

A new pill that can fight the flu as soon as symptoms strike has been approved for use in Australia.
It's the first time in two decades a new antiviral medication will be made available. The drug, marketed as Xofluza with the active ingredient baloxavir, has been used in the US for just over a year. 9News A new antiviral flu drug has been cleared for use in Australia.Antiviral medications can shorten the length of an illness, if prescribed within the first two days of symptoms."(Xofluza) works very well and very quickly, and a single dose is usually what's required, as opposed to five days' treatment the old way," Professor Robert Booy of the University of Sydney said. This drug also works slightly differently in that it blocks the ability of the influenza virus to make copies of itself within an infected cell.

New anti-flu pill approved for use in Australia.

It is used to treat influenza, NOT Covid19.
    Cost ~$US150 it seems.

It was never touted to be any thing to do with COVID-19. Costing in Aus. hasn't been published yet. It wont be ready until next year here apparently. The consequences of getting the flu, and COVID, are not good. So, if this pill knocks the flu on the head quickly, as they say it does, it's a good thing.

Yes this treatment for flu should not be confused with a treatment for Covid.

You raise an interesting point about getting the flu and covid at the same time.

There are some in the medical fraternity that believe that it is almost 100% unlikely to get something else when your body is already under attack from something like the flu or a cold. This is because the immune system is already hyper active and goes on the attack to attack anything it thinks is a threat and may indeed attack your own cells.

For example, the logic goes that if you had a cold you are unlikely to also get the flu at the same time as your heightened immune system (because of the cold) will kill any flu bugs before they can take hold and (in my view a long bow to draw), some consider the heightened immune system may kill some cancers if they form at the same time.

So if this theory is correct, it may not be possible to have flu and covid at the same time, but I suspect it is too early to know.

I'd take the pill any time, over the daily double.
