Wot Mick said. Talk to you FP/ & or accountant.

Alexander Downer was able to get the law changed a few years ago about the 20 year rule in that,( & don't quote me word for word) that if you have lived on your acres for 20 years, the excess over the five acres that the house sits on becomes part of your home & is not included in Centrelink calcs.

I think from memory it was called "The 20 year Law/rule etc" but could be otherwise named in your neck of the woods.

It was brought in because many older landholders Gardeners etc, planned on using their land as Superannuation but were prohibited from doing so. Mick may be able to expand on this as it is too long a go for me to recall the details & I would hate to give you false info.

Alexander Downer was then our Local MP & the fight for this change was taken up by Local gardeners etc.

I repeat, Talk to your FP &/or Accountant.

We have both got Health cards & 10 acres (4. summat Ha) not rolling in it but comfortable, & IMHO it really is a matter of who processes your claim & the brand of aftershave you use & whether you wear Tan or Black shoes. We had no probs with CL & the claim went through without a prob, but our FP does his job well.

I don't know any more about the five acre rule as it doesn't apply to us, but get good advice.
Super is another area which needs to be adjusted before applying for the pension. Money has to be moved from Accumulation to Pension accounts and a decision made about how much will be drawn as a super pension. A statement from the super fund has to be supplied to Centrelink.
    Get good advice.

In my case, the wife has decided I need to paint the outside of the house, so that should keep me busy for a while. We couldn't have me just sitting around doing nothing and cluttering up the house, even if I am retired, oh dear no, that can't be allowed to happen, never.

Already painted the outside and inside and trying to drag it out by carefully sanding the entrance before painting that. Good thing is that when this WuVi is over everything will be done and there’s no excuse or reason not to be doing the things I really want to do!

I've been retired to the farm for three-year now.. so..nothing much has changed other than I do the food shopping cause the boss is immuno compromised and cares for her 90 year old mother on the same property.

Luckily only one/4 kids has lost her job but is studying anyway..."Dad can you proof read this essay for me...now".

Looks like Bunnings is the go to place to get out nowadays😃

I decided mid March that because I was due for a haircut, I would forgo any tonsorial titillation until this whole planetary hiccough is over.

OMFG, you have your Tonsils titillated. That's a new one. The mind boggles.

Just give it time when you won't have any thatch on the roof. Snow covered or not. Job done!

Back on topic: I gave the tractor flail implement it's first full paddock run this a.m. To say I'm happy with it is true. Under 3 hours for a bit over 5 acres.

I'm almost halfway around the outside, doing the main colour, and will then have to start on white trim. At this rate I should not finish untill about the same time as WA reopens to caravanners, when we'll be off.
