True... the closest one I've come to is from this fella (via Caradvice). He owns a TD5 Defender 130 himself. He does various articles,etc and I'm not sure but I think he also works for Pat CallihanQuote:

I can’t understand why they keep banging on comparing it with the old Defender.
The old one is gone,finished,no more,this thing is for a completely different market,completely different vehicle.

They should be comparing it to current vehicles in a similar class.
In fact it may be sort of in a new class,as there isn’t much else around like it,except maybe the new LC,but that’s all a mystery ATM.
Yes, its definitely in a different class to the old one, and aimed at a different audience.
Thats fine. LR needs the new one to be a huge success, in the premium market. But it means LR has abandoned the workhorse market.
While the original Defender remained focused on the commercial market for its entire life the replacement is clearly not intended for the people who owned the old model
They will need to buy a dual cab ute instead of a Land Rover product. Well at least that is what they are replacing them with around here
So what in the current market do we see the new Defender as a competitor with?
Wrangler has to be its only real competition but still s totally different vehicle and not quite the same price bracket.
Although an lc76 is close.

Why people have this huge issue with fuel usage is beyond me,when depreciation is the big killer.
I am guessing the new Defender will depreciate a lot more than the old one,and it costs a lot more,so there is more to lose.
Just back from the supermarket. While there had a look at the car magazines to see if there were any with a review of the new Defender. Interesting to note that all the car magazines had a front page story about their exclusive (their words) drive however none of the Land Rover magazines had a story
