    What you really need for sand is some castoff WW2 Bren Carrier Tracks. Short ones.

    And also if you drop the socket I bet there are lots of unprintable words muttered while you are on your way to retrieve it

    For those hard to reach places... magnet on a flexi-stick. I have one on a straight telescopic stick but have looked at one of these flexi-jobbies in a mates shed

    Really should spread a tarp underneath before one starts. Don't ask me how I know this. My Neighbour is still looking for a dropped Carby Bowl drain screw, mine, when he fitted the Rideon carby back.

    As well as a 3 prong spring loaded Pickle onion grabber on a stick.. They go well together IMHO.
