If you had the strength of mind to watch further(I didn't), he then follows up with a comparison drive between D1 and D2 at a place where he had trouble with the D2(and it's lack of CDL) and 'shows' how the D1 made it through but the D2 doesn't.

What the idiot doesn't realise is 1/. he takes a different line with the D1, giving it more grip on the front spinning wheel(hence it doesn't get stuck) and 2/. he used so much more momentum in the D1 that it didn't have a chance to get caught with the front wheel in the air for a fraction of the time the D2 did.

The first 12 minutes just sound like whining, with a twist of sour grapes about how lacking in knowledge all other journos are. At about the 13min mark he claims that the auto version of the D2 uses a viscous locking transfer case, that the manual version doesn't have!
Then for 2 1/2 minutes comes the painful part about how well he knows how to drive, and how well he knows Landrovers! [bighmmm] And note the three drives over the obstacle course.

I must admit that yesterday I watched a Youtube by him on the various plusses and minusses of Lithium Batteries vs Agm.

I thoought it was excellent.

I have done quite a bit of research on Lithiums and his specialist was pretty on the money AFAIK.

The only new thing I learned was that it is best to look for a Prismatic Lithium battery, rather than one with heaps of those 18260 ( or whatever they are called ) as the specialist claimed the small battery jobs can have solder joints fail on rough roads.

hasn't hurt Tesla much though with their small battery daisy chains. But then they do not go on corrugations.

Prismatic cells suffer from poorer thermal management and die quicker.

They are also very sensitive to deformation under pressure and cost more per watt.

Their common use is in packaging situations where space is premium - like a mobile or laptop.

Again, a case of this guy (StPoop) talking out his wazoo.

Hi Phillip, his lithium video was a total waste of time.

His “expert”, at one point, had to go and look up what he was talking about.

If any one wants to be fair dinkum about any form of battery comparison, they first need to know about the different battery types being compared.

These two clown know little about either battery type and were just parroting the usual advertising B/S used by shonky lithium battery sellers.

StPoop did one on an ARB TPMS and complained constantly the unit was faulty. The reality was he had no idea how to operate it, had installed it upside down even!
Slagged it as being malfunctioning when he hadn’t even set it up.

Sadly he has a strong following of people who wouldn’t realise that he has no idea what he’s talking about.

I think he tickles his own fancy.

Look , The video made many good points that are pretty well unarguable.
I will quote a few.
1 Use only a DC DC charger with a Lithium setting, and its surprising how few there are about at a reasonable cost.

2 Do not put a Lithium under bonnet as the Lithium becomes more reactive and the battery life shortens dramatically. I read an experimental report last week where the experimenters stored charged Lithium batteries at different temperatures and a 50C the test battery failed in 90 days.

If I were to put one underbonnet as I plan to I will fan cool it and it will be in the original tray.

3 The BMS in cheaper Lithiums are inadequate to run high current items such a inverters. As long as people with 200AH banks understand that they cannot reliably run a 2000watt Inverter something has been achieved.

4 And I sort of learned this as it was already somewhere in the back of my mind . If the Lithium is completely dead the DC DC charger will not recognize it and the DC DC charger can be reactivated by placing a 9volt battery across the Lithium terminals. This also applies to AGMs but if an AGM is that dead the odds are it is toast.

There are probably a few other items that those who are not electrically minded would not know. The issue is that there was no misinformation in the video.

Now I have fitted a smaller 34AH Lithium to my Camper trailer using a 10amp DC DC charger which isolates the Lithium from the car system .

So Don't be too hard on the technical bloke who had forgotten the word "prismatic" . Also I don't see that this is a negative. The best solar battery cells are prismatic.

Be truthful first and foremost, and accurate to the best of your knowledge.
When an inaccuracy is highlighted, then at least have the respect(ie truthfulness) to admit it wasn't as accurate as it could otherwise have been.

That's why I posted this thread. I highlighted StPoops . .. oops! I mean AStPW's error, and instead of researching it, he got defensive and his reply was for me to know my facts! [bighmmm]
