Yep. I ahve had OME's and they were terrible, they just did not handle what I threw at them at all. My guess is it is the small bore which is the problem, same for the Rancho's.
I now have toughdogs and they are fantastic. Good for tough serious offroading and on the last 2 outback trips they did not fade at all.
And they are a good price.:)
No leaks just bouncey, bouncey, it tends to sea saw front to back, fronts are gone too.Quote:

Theres something fundamentally wrong here. My first Bilsteins lasted 200,000 kms, incl some desert trips. Current ones have about 100,000 kms up without a hint of trouble.Quote:

My supplier is Heasmans the direct importer of Bilsteins, i would assume they should know why they have failed but they couldn't give a reasonable answer as to why, this is the newer ones i mean, the first set were too short for the lift so were replaced with the extended ones done by Heasmans, these were faulty, something to do with the wrong valving, but these new ones they could say why.Quote:

Lifts & extended shocks are another realm altogether..
You say you drive it pretty hard - did it ever bottom out on your trips? Must have at some stage.
When the longer shocks went in, did you physically check the suspension on full bump? Which happens first, the bump stop hits or the shock tops out? Or maybe even coil bind? Theres a bit of compression in the bump stop too you need to allow for as well.

I have bottomed out quite a few times when i had the previous setup and i think this is what caused the demise of the currant bilsteins, now with this setup i will be starting all over again and only time will tell if it's the shocks or me or me not setting it up properly, cause most of my shock problems were before the large lift i have now.

$1210.... before I buy springs!!!!...
Think I'll buy those cheap Bilsteins!!^_^

Hi guys,
Got a 2" lift, had OMS's on, got it from Southcoast 4wd in wollonong, I found out to late but the shock were to long an were pulling on my ABS censors and stuffed the back ones up. Got the Bils. now, great stuff. OMS aint worth the money, well OK they are allot better than the standard ones!

I have OME's on my D1 and havnt found that much wrong with them, compared to the OE ones they seem to be better but its hard to compare the ride when you have put stiffer springs in at the same time. When these ones are knackered i will be getting the Bilsteins i wished i could have afforded this time. Matt
