We stood at the top of the driveway with a lit candle and had a minutes silence, interrupted only by kookies and a couple of passing vehicles. Could only see one other group of neighbours, also with candles.
Then went back to bed and watched the dawn services on TV.
I thought about my uncle, who was an invalid pensioner for the rest of his life after serving in PNG.
Flag raised to half mast, sign "Lest We Forget" on the front gate (but I doubt anyone will see it), and watched the sunrise sitting on the verandah while listening to the dawn service in Canberra.
Still went to the cemetery and spent dawn with the Father in-Law (WW2 Digger). Quite emotional yet strangely peaceful standing graveside alone.

was a good roll up at the end of the driveways in our street which is predominately older folk but there were lots of young kids out as well with handmade poppies and wreaths.
was very nice to see and the sounds of the birds intermingled with the sounds of the RSL app being played from various driveways added to the atmosphere.
and we had a single privately owned warbird fly over the area just after which was a nice touch...
all in all it was well done I thought and a fitting tribute
Was that one of the warbirds based at Caboolture Airport?
Just made your own Ian[thumbsupbig]. Listening to the service on ABC with cockatoos in the background on the radio we had a few kookaburra's, magpies and flyby by Flying Foxes. Our dog loved the Driveway services with four Candles for VICPOL and a few extra for my Crew.
Lest We Forget.
