A tad awkward to do that, but it is in Bypass 05 until it gets rectified once & for all. Oh Joy Oh Rupture. He did say the next call is N/C, but the last call wasn't a total loss as he got the Uniden Cordless x 2 extension working since the NBN stuffed it up.

As James Cagney would have said, "Got you you Dirty Rat".

Overnight's effort. I think it must have stuffed itself with RatSak beforehand.

That'll teach it to meddle with my alarm cables. Mechanical traps really are the Dog's Danglies because you know when you have got one.

Bloody rats,we have them here as well.I find the younger ones are easy to get,but the older ones are smart.I use Aluminium Elliotte traps as well, found a few left over in my fathers gear. Some will go into the elliott, but won't go onto a break back.

The dog is good as well, but she can't climb walls and ladders

Elliot traps explained in this article.

This bugger has such a strong spring on it too that it is like defusing a 1,000lb-er HE. Because it has Jaws on it, it could snap a finger or even amputate one. It kills the Rat stone dead.

The term softly softly springs to mind & I wear an anti- shrapnel/explosion suit like the cops wear when investigating a suspect package.

No, it is not really like that but you get my drift. It certainly feels like it though.

So far the best baits have been Cheese & BEGA Peanut Butter, not together mind. That would be in bad taste.

Our dear old departed Jack Russell was the best ever, quick as a flash, a violent shake of the head & it was goodnight Ratty.

I forgot to say, bait, yes peanut butter, dunno what brand

Or piece of cooked bacon or ham tied on with fishing line on breakback trap.Oats in elliot work well.

Often i put nothing in the Elliot trap and catch them easy,in fact if they have recently bred,i will get 5 or so young ones, one at a time over say a week.Young and silly.Bloody adults,as said, cunning things, but the dog will get them.

Out at the property we get mice,no rats,we cable tie a stubby on a log horizontally over a 20 litre drum without lid,bit of bacon stuck in end of stubby, the mice fall in drum, can't get out.

Update for interested parties. Or not.

I'll call him Max, for that is his name, came yesterday. Meggered out the Data Cable which checked out ok for continuity .

Discovered it was a ****ty connection made by the tech that originally installed the system but tucked away out of sight in a difficult corner until one goes mad looking for it, move this junk to here, move that junk to there etc.

Pulled the cable ends in & used that cable for the PID & last night was a bit weird laying there awake to see if it went off [as if I wouldn't know eh? ] & had been repaired correctly. All for nought because it didn't alarm. The first decent sleep I've had since this episode started.

Still have another two spare wires to use if necessary.

Maybe I could have taken shortcuts but while Brad's method was probably ok at the end of the day I would have had that "****, is it right?" feeling. Battery was 4 years old so may have popped it's clogs soon according to what I have read, was replaced 20/09/16. I also now have spare sensor if needed.

Thanks to those that replied to my "cry for help".
