I am pretty sure that you can claim 5000 km per year without receipts, regardless of your employment...

would recommend consulting with tax proffesional on that one ,tis a fine line with lots of fuzzy grey areas if not sub-contract,things like permanent places of employment, travel not allowed, must be itinerant work places, better safe than owing johhny heaps

I'm seem to be in the same enviable situation too.....

My argument is that as a subbie, I still have to fork out the cost of the fuel, and only getting back "your taxable income percentage" back on that cost is what most people forget to allow for!

Lower your costs (fit LPG...that should be an allowable deduction???) and pay less for the fuel, as it should keep more $ in your pocket!

But then again...if you're like me and you keep telling yourself that gas is cheap I can 'afford' to go for another drive!! Thus spending more on fuel!!

have never really been a fan of gas conversions ,have seen some with probs after running mainly on gas then wont run on petrol, and problems with cold morning starts with the gas lines freezing, yarda, yarda, yarda, and also the fact that gas fillup places are few and far between out here in the bush is another negative ,I just try not to look as the $$$$$ go round and round and round and round...........

Fernockulated - I always use a Tax Professional for my Tax Returns. I don't claim to know much about that sort of stuff, so I use an expert. By the same token, he doesn't service his own vehicle because it is not his area of expertise, whereas I do.
