Road Rage/Harassment - No Point Complaining

This afternoon was driving along a 80 kph road for a few km with a Commodore S Dual Cab Ute following - when we came to straight I was close to the car in front and the ute went out to overtake but instead of overtaking both cars it pulled in front of me missng me by about 6" and then started brake checking me. We ended up stopped on the road with the two people in the ute motioning me to get out.

I locked the car and pulled out onto the other side of the road to pass but of course the ute then matched me for acceleration and not letting me back on the correct side of the road - a 2.7TDV6 is still no a match a petrol 3.9 V6. And of course a car was now coming the other way - I flashed him and he moved over to the shoulder preventing a head on.

A traffic island and a T intersection was coming up and I just managed to get back on the correct side of the road, just in front of the ute which turned off to the left in the intersection - I turned right but the ute did a u turn and cam back up behind me again flashing lights and continued to follow me again - at a round about it turned off and went back the way it came.

Not sure what caused all this because there had not been any incident before hand.

Anyway - all caught on dash cam so I took these down to the cops for them to look at - first thing there is no "Road Rage" offence in the ACT like other States. They looked at the video and said yes - very bad driving but I had contributed - when I asked how - they said I had contributed by sounding the horn when the car had nearly hit me and when they brake checked me. So in these circumstances you are to not respond in any manner and take the pineapple. According to the police I should just stay parked on the road until the other party get tired of your inaction and drive off.

Any way no action - despite a near head on. They did take the rego number of the other vehicle and indicated they would ring the driver and highlight that the Police had viewed all the footage and they were not to do it again.

    So no action taken

So do not sound the horn if you nearly get collected on the road.

I’ve had similar. Amazing how well a bullbar can push a vehicle when you’re in Low range Road Rage/Harassment - No Point Complaining

One day I came across a Moron and was watching as they were brake checking a young female P plater for over 5 km. I slid in between the 2 vehicles in my D1 and took the brake check Road Rage/Harassment - No Point Complaining their Commodore got a decent thump. Next set of lights the driver goes to get out - I also hopped out to chat - aggressively. They ran a red light to get away, Spotted by the Police and promptly pulled over. I followed them and stopped to chat with the officers - it was a very good outcome!

You needed to go harder Road Rage/Harassment - No Point Complaining I had a Commodore Ute only a few months ago attempt to lock me on the wrong side of the road when passing - somebody was going to yield - it wasn’t me. He WAS working in Whyalla - doesn’t anymore, it wasn’t me, but it seems he’d done the same to a few locals and one night at the pub was tuned up just a bit!

Had similar by a territory driver the other day except he was doing 40kph in a 60 zone then a 50 zone, he must of got ****ed we me behind him so he stopped dead just as we were going right at a round a bout with me stuck blocking the road.
I hit the horn and just gave me the bird out the window, we moved off and he hit the brakes again but this time i just floored it and got around him.

It’s much more fun sometimes to get out and help them adjust.

It has always amused me this sort of behaviour. I haven't struck this for years. About 15years ago it happened a couple of times a year. The nutters that try it I'm guessing only try it on someone they think will be intimidated....

First I drove this for a solid decade:

Boss women tells me it looks quite intimidating in the mirrors and from behind ( bizarre, I always thought it just looked a bit weird). She must be right though as whenever I drive it I find cars "move" out of the fast lane and merge over so you can overtake. I've never experienced this in any other car. I have never been road raged driving this.

Maybe I've just mellowed over the years.... I've never been road raged in this either.... Having said that it would take anyone about 3seconds to realise I'm just going to play demolition derby if they try road raging me (or blocking me in between cars... This HAS happened.... (especially if the kids are in the car).

I have no idea what to do with road rage. If there is a scenario where you just can't "drive through" whatever nutter is trying to attack you (eg: stuck in traffic). What do you do then. Getting out of the car is a bad idea, but being stuck in a car unable to move as your restrained by a belt .... isn't bad, its downright insane. What the police are suggesting above is simply moronic. Don't get out of your car with anything like a club lock. As then your the aggressor. And if the nutter knows how to fight, they'll take it off you and beat you over the head with it.

You might think you can get out of the car and give the said nutter a hiding .... How do you know 5 big guys aren't going to climb out of the car ...... They may also be armed with knives and bats....

Lets just hope none of us are ever put into this scenario

Or guns. Yes, I know it's not the USA but, nevertheless, some people do have guns.

a 6x6 has exceptional value in preventing road rage...

especially if you dont clean of the remnants of the vehicles that have tried it in the past and lost.

The only time I have really wished I had a bull bar on the RRS was when the guy pulled right in front and then brake checked me - would have all been caught on my dash cam - I did think about giving him a nudge but all I could think about was the 6 (or is it more) air bags going off in my car.

Even though the cops said there was nothing official they could do, I hope they did actually ring the other driver and have a little chat
