No more meltdowns. Guaranteed. Apparently.

there's no magic bullets as far as nuclear power goes.
It's not going to be needed anymore anyway.
There will be no more monster power stations built again. Some already planned may go to completion but some new projects are already being abandoned.
The current rapid increase in all systems alternative no longer necessitates central power generation sources , but an open network all around the world , small population centres developing and maintaining their own local power , as it used to be.
The vast infrastructure of hi tension power towers stretching for hundreds of kms will slowly ebb as the better local networks are put in place.
The amount of money invested in these outdated networks is what is holding things up eg Morrison govt and his top of town friends who want to keep things how they are.eg, coal/gas/snowy 11.
I still don't believe Snowy 11 is going to eventuate....like it or not , it's not necessary as the current expansion of other networks will make it redundant.
I believe a number of small pumped hydro systems around the country, in association with wind and sun , will provide all the local reliable power needed. Base loading and large rotating mass is 1950's because thats all they knew. .....and it did its job well at the time. It's now time to move on.
Small container Nuclear will remove Solar storage devices.
Solar farms waste huge tracts of land, Pumped hydro has huge losses, Batteries don't last enough both lifespan and capacity.
Consumption of Minerals for storage and production of Solar will become the next "Coal" - reflecting in 100 yrs time it will no doubt be judged in the same.
HT lines are going up everywhere, they need to be there to move all this uncontrolled solar generation
This article from 2019 advocates small , svelte[ whatever that means] and safer nuclear reactors.

This stuff is good , but whose agenda is it?
It is not being presented for the benefit of mankind but for the ultimate benefit of someones company/business/corporation's mass profitibility.
As good as it addresses a lot of the hiccups and ongoing potential problems of nuclear power generation I still don't think it's going to come to fruition. It certainly will not happen in Australia.
If compact countries with dense communities like in Europe can't see forward to the current expansion of alternative forms , which in many cases require large tracts of unavailable land , then the newly touted Triso Pellet Powered Nuclear plants may provide an answer to future power generation.
Must not forget, it still requires large heavy machinery and vast amounts of water. The large footprint and water usage may determine it's future.
In the history of mankind, no technological achievement has ever been made only for " the benefit of mankind". Sad but true. I'm not sure the world needs Africa building reactors supplied by the creators of Chernobl, either.

I guess this is topical, in the nuclear debate. The issue of waste.

Now don't get me wrong . I'm for nuclear power, if they get the issue of waste right. Here is a report on Europe from the World nuclear waste report.
