'Back in the day' this would bring up a CSH or "call sub. held" alarm in the old style 'step by step' exchange and require manual intervention to release the call and associated equipment. Automatic CSH release capability was created to sort this problem which led to automatic call release after approx. 3 minutes (1970's).

I'm no spring chicken.
You'd be surprised how much money I've been offered to hand shape a modern mal (or any other) surfboard while being videoed, because there aren't many people around who can do it these days.
All old info like the phone stuff is interesting, as is the process that led to it becoming redundant and who decided and why that process was followed. Probably too much info and dimensions for many kids to be bothered with and learn from these days.

Most of the scammers autodialers seem to be able to detect my old answering machine. As soon as my recorded "hello this is Terry...." starts they hang up.
Not Nicole though, she seems smarter (or dumber?) than my machine.

Not Nicole, but I keep getting calls asking me if I know about the solar rebate available to me. These are live humans, not machines. I talked to one a few days ago to try and see if I could convince them to leave me alone - they wanted to send some one out to point out the advantages. Gave up after I told her to make sure that if it looked like rain to ensure they had four wheel drive and pointed out that most of the trip had no phone coverage, and part of the road is not on Google maps.
