    Maybe petty here but..
I hope whoever did the map on that article never leads a convoy I'm in... Wonnangatta is to the north of the name on that map.

I think they've dropped their pin at the Wonnangatta Camping Ground at Crooked River

I doubt he acted alone, if he was from Caroline springs, why was he heading out via dinner plains after he came out of Blue Rag track? Wouldn’t it be more logical to come out through Dargo?

In this article, they estimate the roads he took to get out. Not to sure how they managed to get the route or how accurate it is, but still it is a good talking point.

They caught up with the suspect through the vehicle - is now a bronze/gold colour - otherwise still looks the same as the one in the surveillance pics.

NB, since the car would have been registered as blue in colour, repainting it wouldn't help hide it because it would still come up on VicRoads as a blue Nissan Patrol.

But apparently they had no rego numbers etc - so I guess the police worked their way through all blue patrols on their records looking for anomalies like disposal, and colour changes.

Couple of years ago I got pulled over by our Highway Patrol. I was driving my blue Fairmont. Their ANPR camera had pinged it as being white. Told 'em it had been blue for at that time 14 years. Seems the VicRoads computer preferred white. Had to waste an afternoon going to VicRoads to get it changed back. So, it ain't foolproof.
