EMU's placed on the dog act in a Qld. country pub.

I've always thought Emu's were trouble makers since one tried to lift my wallet in Camooweal.

I thought EMUs were suburban trains.

Are you sure it was an emu not one of the local maidens you were attempting to have your wicked way with?

Carina Car Wreckers had two watch emus in the yard, Fred and Mary. They had been known to pen up intruders after hours. They are curious and would stick their heads under a bonnet to see what you were doing. They also have bad breath. Howie used to break any eggs he found. He reckoned they were bad enough without chicks but Fred became impossible when he had chicks in his care.

    Such a funny animal.

I wonder what their purpose in this country ever was. Round up the roos?

Last time I was in Yaraka , camped behind the Pub, one of those bush chooks saw me get a few kibbles from my vest pocket for the dog, next I knew it snuck up on me & had its beak in my pocket, scared the crap out of me as I wasn't watching, and I thought they were as dumb as ****.

A few dozen at Tower hill in Western vic. My better half is terrified of them. Helpfull ranger type there told her to hold her handover her head as if she was higher than the emu it would see her as the boss and not bother her. I was on the ground laughing at her running away with the emu trotting behind her and yes she still had her arm up and hand bent looking hilarious. They did a few laps before she thought to stand behind me

Just passing through, not sure but I think maidens are in short supply in Camooweal. Don't think Slim is singing about an Emu, but he likes Camooweal.

The issues at Yaraka in many respects are the doing of the owners of the pub. They found the clutch of eggs and raised them as pets - most of the other emus took off once they got bigger but encouraged by "mum" from the pub two stayed on - self made issue

An emu once sneaked up behind me and stuck its beak in the pocket of my shorts. Gave me quite a surprise. EMU's placed on the dog act in a Qld. country pub.
